I can't even comprehend how you come up with such intricate and interesting models, cosmicollie.

i feel honoured, tomoalien - thank you.

the formula (at least for me) is: do it every day - every
single minute every second. there´s no time for anything else
than what you truly like.

a solid foundation is everything.

learn the rules others made - know them - then break the rules others made.

learn from old masters:

https://www.woodcarvingworkshops.tv/videos/index
http://www.masterengraver.com

join their classes.

get pushed away from them after you tell them you apply „their“
knowledge and principles to other - digital tools.

give them the finger. keep on doing your stuff.

read all the books. do all the tutorials -
you don´t understand them ? - watch them again.

watch tutorials at double speed at youtube if the sucker does
not come to the point what you want to learn from him.

learn the digital tools:

http://pixologic.com
http://pixologic.com/zclassroom/viewall

all of them.

compare your work with the work of others and try to get in that
damn toprow someday.

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc-top-row-gallery.php

first - imitate them for learning purpose - then forget everything again and find your
own style - that´s the hardest part.

post your stuff on twitter, instagram etc. etc. - get 10 likes
if it is a good day.

do that for 15 years and if you realize you are not nearly there,
well, keep on doing it - it´s the thing you do and love right ?

and this - i think - can be applied to everything.

What's actually going on with the dots? At first I thought the pixels were separated so that each one only displayed one color, but that does not seem to be the case.

It's coming together.
* The shader can be edited (with instant auto-reload when you save it) in the .h file format produced by ShaderMinifier where the code is split to quoted indented lines, which is a must for any sort of optimizations.
* Music sync is facilitated by providing various ways of translating the audio position to shader time float as bars or beats.
* One-click ShaderMinifier function, which even automatically finds out the new uniform names
* Audio delay setting for fine-tuning music sync. (implemented by giving 4klang_render() a starting position that's offset by the delay)

A few more features have to be added and bugs fixed, before it's on a "minimum viable product" level. For example the "New project" and "Save as" functions. Maybe some niceties like looping and quick-locate markers.
