Did the Amiga group Iris change their name?

category: residue [glöplog]
Thank you, xTr1m.

The way my setup is at the moment, I've only got an SSD in my PC itself, a Samsung EVO device, which everyone recommends. It's serving me fine so far, after at least a month.

I also have an external HDD (500Gb) which I've put four copies of most of my files on. It's in an enclosure on the floor, and I turn it on only when I'm copying.

One USB flash drive and data storage on a phone, and that's me done for the videos.

I only just reorganised the video files to spread them out into separate Amiga and PC folders rather than keeping them in one big folder. And I renamed the IRIS demos on the videos with ease, so if I spot any other changes in the Pouet names, modifying the files should be easy.

I will get rid of the DVDs at some point. As it was, I mixed up the files across the discs, rather than a simple A-Z, in case I wanted to add more. I tell you, burning to DVDs really is inflexible for the most part, it's no wonder people are using them less and less now.

The group always called themselves IRIS, claiming it was short for Illi Recentes ImperatoreS, just as you say. They still do, as far as I know. Nothing changed.

The real name of the group is of course just iris, and it isn't short for anything. It's just short.

OK, cool.

At least now I'm free to correct any errors in names if I spot them, keeping my stuff up-to-date neatly.

If you were simply always going to use for the short/abbreviated version, you wouldn't have to care about what it stands for. Just sayin'.
and cloud storage costs nothing these days... still, waste of money for just some amiga videos, i'd say

The videos are really only for when I'm out and about, I tend to stick with "live" viewing at home, and so I'm not going to put them on the cloud. I could put them on YouTube, but they would be degraded badly.

And the PC demos I can't run, I will see on 1080p YouTube instead, if as high as that. I find that several of them are 360p, even the ones that are higher than 360p to begin with!

Thank you, psenough.

Wow, I did not know they had that name as far back as 1989! I suppose it can't be helped that I simply did not know about the long name after seeing Kilofix and Light 2. Or it could be that this official title of theirs is TOO LONG for most instances.

if you had googled for iris amiga group a bit better you would have found their page at exotica which has a lot of their early history that is not as properly documented at pouet and/or demozoo yet.

i find it strange that you're such an amiga demo buff and dont know to look at exotica for these things. :S

I forgot about Exotica. The only specific Amiga scene site I have bookmarked is Kestra BitWorld.

the real reason is that DUB bought IRIS for all the money we make from running TRSAC. I am gonna go with Slummys answer too, we will do absolutely anything for a laugh which is why we appreciate the brits so much.

Did DUB ever change their name, anyway?
(too lazy to Google, sorry)
and iris backwards is siri... the help vampire plot thickens...

What does ASD stand for anyway?

DUB is Danish Underpants Brigade.
ASD is Andromeda Software Development.

My question has been answered, thank you all. Why are you all keeping this thread going?
added on the 2017-12-14 21:36:52 by Foebane72 Foebane72
Last time i checked DUB standed for Deep Underground Britain, as confirmed by nic0's post!

ASD stands for ASUS Soccer Defenders as Navis will surely confirm.

Why is this thread still going?

I'm quite sure DUB stands for Don't Underestimate Bitcoin.
