Tokyo Demo Fest 2018

category: parties [glöplog]
Hello,

The registrations for TDF 2018 are opened, and you can start getting your prepaid tickets through the website here:
http://tokyodemofest.jp/

The party will be held on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of December in Tokyo.

It happens to be immediately before SIGGRAPH Asia 2018, as mentioned in this other thread. Come to both. :)

Apparently registration site 403s Russia :D. VPNs FTW!

Well that's not very convenient. :-/

Do they say something specific about supporting payment from Russia?

I'm thinking of going to both!

It doesn't say anything except for giving 403 when trying to visit their URLs (basically anything *.peatix.com is 403). I was able to access it through VPN, and it accepted my Russian card just fine.

Sorry about that, and I'm glad you could access through VPN.
We can try to report the problem, but since this is a third-party service I doubt it would be fixed in time. :-(

Don't worry about this too much. I'm kind of used to things like this, as it happens quite often. A lot of various sites deliberately ban Russian/ex-USSR IPs for some reason (I can only hypothesize that it is for historical reasons to deter carders or hackers. Which is like "wat. look how easy I bypassed this").
Also, due to recent years developments, every literate Internet user in Russia has a bunch of VPNs at hand, so this shouldn't stop anyone else from buying tickets.

For those who are on Facebook, we've created an event page. Feel free to add yourself to the guest list, or share the event with others.

From the ticket service support:

Quote:
I have checked with our developers department, and any access issues from Russia should have already been resolved.
Could you please ask the buyer to try again to access the event page and order their tickets?

So @provod, since you already have your ticket, could you just confirm that you can access the event page without using a VPN?

@Zavie: can confirm, I can now access their site directly, without VPN. Thank you!

A thread bump because TDF is starting in two days.

It looks like we're on the way to have our biggest number of visitors so far. <3

We'll upload the prods after we've had some sleep :)

No no, you start the uploading and THEN go to sleep, that's the trick ;)

@gargaj: Feel free to come and show the kids how it's done by the real pros. :) Like, next year for example?

Still sleeping? I'm wondering why almost nobody yet releases the prods at the pouet. Are authors not caring enough?

lvd: they're probably waiting for them to show up on scene.org to have a permanent link.

orgas: thanks for organizing the party, livestream of democompo was fun to watch. :)
