@party 2019 - 7th to 9th June - Boston MA, USA

category: general [glöplog]

Ten years!

It is our pleasure to invite you to @party 2019!

@party is the longest running demoparty in the Americas and this year is our 10th iteration! We're again returning to Artisan’s Asylum in Somerville, MA USA as it has proven to be the perfect local demoparty venue. There will be three days of scheduled programming from Friday June 7th through Sunday June 9th with 24 hour site access.

The room will have the same giant screen and sound system of the past three years and you're welcome to consume meals and refreshments at your computer place. You can't sleep here though, so please make arrangements for a hotel or roomshare if you don't intend to stay awake for three days straight.

Remote entries are accepted, but attendance is encouraged!

We've also already begun scheduling live acts for Friday and Saturday and seminar presentations for all three days. Stay tuned for further details or contact us if you're interested in presenting as there are still some seminar slots available.

Thank you, and we hope to see you at @party 2019!

- Dr.Claw and the rest of the @party Orga Team

\o/ I'll be back, at least Saturday like in the past. And, dammit, I'm really gonna have a compo entry this time, I swear. :) (it's about 30% done at this point)

I'm with you! Just virtually, but great news nevertheless! Fingers crossed! :)

Remember that while we'd prefer to see people at the party itself, we do accept remote entries if you really can't make it :)

So will the IRC work or not this time? If so, please tell me which IRCnet server to connect to. Just look at this graph!

Yes, we will set up an IRC channel for the party this time around. We'll post the server info closer to the party.

Announcing the @party Demo Hack Day

March 30th, 10am-6pm, Artisans Asylum, 10 Tyler St., Somerville, MA

@party is coming on June 7-9 and we’re getting together on March 30th to get started on our productions. If you’re new to demomaking, demoparties, or even graphics programming, we can help teach you enough of the basics to get you started. So come by and code something awesome with us! You can sign up for this free lead-up event on the Khronos Boston Meetup site.

And as a reminder, you can sign up for the full party in June here.

How'd the hack day go? Any pics?

It went really well, we had over a dozen people working on prods, including a number of newbies who sound like they'll attend and release :) A friend of mine took some pictures, probably one of them is postable ;)

Worried you won’t have a prod done (or even started) for one of the regular compos? Want to try something completely bonkers in a limited amount of time? We’ve just added a 24 hour "Hackathon"-style Fast Compo aimed specifically at attendees like you! See these new rules on the Wild & Hackathon compos page.

Five days until the party, my demo is almost done! When will be able to submit?
added on the 2019-06-01 21:59:56 by Parallax Parallax
There will be a server running Wuhu on the party LAN that you'll be able to access for prod submission when you arrive.

The final schedule has been posted, including the following additional events:

Crafting Performance-Ready Synth Toys with Jim Susinno
(Friday June 7th, 8:00 PM)

Using the Arduino IDE and targeting the STMicroelectronics Nucleo family, it’s now possible to make medium-quality musical instruments almost from scratch, or from low-quality instruments. The Nucleo’s on-board DAC allows for dead silent operation when feeding into a PWM amplifier, and the FPU makes for easy, lazy programming that also works great on a desktop PC. With just a little bit of coding, crimping and soldering, you can finally make the sound your nerd soul sings.

@party Ten Year Retrospective
(Saturday June 8th, 3:00 PM)

Join us in celebrating 10 years of @party! We’ll tell stories and play demos from @parties past. We’ve got wireless mics to pass around the room, anybody who wants to share their own @party stories is welcome to chime in.

Oldskool Demoshow with Inverse Phase
(Saturday June 8th, 7:00 PM)

Inverse Phase is back with another curated selection of oldskool demos and plenty of information on what makes each production and platform unique. This presentation will be especially informative for attendees new to the demoscene, but even veteran sceners may learn something new, especially if they haven’t been keeping up with recent oldskool releases.

Would it be possible to delay the compo deadline by, maybe, two weeks? Kthx.

Make something for the "hackathon" fast compo... ? ;P

For those of you who have had to put up with our lack of a functional party management system during some past years, fear not! Wuhu has been verified functional and will be available as soon as you arrive at the party! Rejoice! :)

Woo! Can't wait for the party tomorrow. Also, all I need to do is write text once my friend stitches together all the .py files that we wrote.
