Outline 2020 - May 21th - May 24th, Ommen, The Netherlands

category: parties [glöplog]
Holland's longest running demoparty is moving to a new location in 2020. Join us on May 21-24 for demoscene compos, live music and DJ's, live coding, and more!

We have some new features this year as well:
* a dedicated "quiet area" in a separate secondary building
* a dedicated indoor bbq in a separate building, free to use for all visitors (besides the usual catering options)
* all rooms are between 4 and 8 beds, so no more big sleeping halls

We now have a larger capacity.
The new buildings holds place for up to 130 visitors indoors, with enough space outdoors.

Maybe we should ask the cow first, though.

it seems that there is no way to get there by public transport?
added on the 2020-01-25 03:15:22 by dipswitch dipswitch
https://www.stadstaxiommen.nl/ might be nice to get from the Ommen train station to Outline and vice versa. 5 euros for 4 peeps. an orga perhaps could just to be sure verify with them whether Arendshorst is a valid destination as their website says 'within urban area of Ommen'. Arendshorst has an Ommen address, but, meadows aren't exactly "urban" :P
8-10 hours from nearest large airports via public transportation according to Google Maps.

Are there any plans on organizing shuttles, sharing ride infos or something?

waffle: errrrr, define 'nearest', as Schiphol - Ommen is only 1:31 hours by train?! did you pick busses only or something? :P
Dipswitch: The public transport situation for our new location in Ommen is in many ways comparable with the situation we had in Willemsoord. Meaning, there's a busstop very close to the location but it isn't serviced during weekends and/or holidays, so that likely will be of little use to our visitors. Ommen railway station is at a 5.6km walk from the location, booking a taxi from there to the partyplace costs between 14 and 17 euros via common taxi booking websites. (Perhaps the "stadstaxi" suggested by Maali could be a bit cheaper indeed, I'll give them a call this week and ask.)

Alternatively, "OV Fiets" and several other bike rental companies operate in and around Ommen, so that could be an option for visitors who enjoy physical exercise in a scenic environment.

Ah yeah! 1.5h is nice! Probably it had some weird routing as i checked public transportation to the party place location and not the town. :D

any news regarding the camping/tent-situation? i remember space for that being limited...is that right?
added on the 2020-01-27 16:06:45 by steam steam
steam: that's correct, unfortunately the owner of the "arendshorst" does not have a permit to let us camp in his (plentiful) nearby fields, and he fairly recently received a rather hefty fine for letting a group camp despite not having that permit. so as it stands now there's only room for about 6/7 tents at crawling distance from the partyplace. we're trying to arrange a patch of nearby(ish) land with camping permit so we can offer our visitors an alternative, however the nearest option is at a ~1700m walk. would that be of any use to you, or would you rather sleep in a bed instead? (other potential campers' opinions are welcome too!)

Out of curiosity, what are the arrangements for car parking at Arendshorst ? Will it be similar to what we had at Willemsoord ?
added on the 2020-01-27 21:37:17 by Felice Felice
Felice: Yeah it's comparable, there's a field across the street from the venue where you can park for free.

well...from a personal perspecitve that "6/7 tents" are plenty for me and i hereby'd like to officially reserve one of these spaces...if that is how this is planned.

i'd also say that maybe six to seven tents is about the average tent-attendance of outline, isnt it? maybe ten...

on another note: i guess i'd prefer sleeping inside over a 20 minute walk to my tent, tbh.
added on the 2020-01-28 12:34:34 by steam steam
steam: last year there were about 30 visitors sleeping in tents :/ answer noted!

I also prefer the tent option to a bunkbed, at least when the weather sais im not freezing to death.
However I dont want to "reserve" a spot as it seems kind of unfair to the people who dont read pouet/this thread on a regular basis.
