some further elaboration on the camping situation: we'll assign camping spots for ommen in 2020 like we assigned beds upstairs for willemsoord in 2015-2019. meaning, families with children under 14 and people with a medical requirement will be served first, after that whoever is first to pay their tickets will be first in line for one of the 6/7 camping spots that we have space for at the venue.

there is one loophole: campers, vans and cars are welcome in the parking lot and it's totally allowed to sleep in them as long as you have registered for a bed. (because your lodging then technically is inside the building/an area designated for habitation according to the zoning plan of the ommen community and because it's legal to sleep in a vehicle as long as it's parked on private property) the only thing that's not allowed is to put up an awning in front of your vehicle because that would be considered camping and not just sleeping in a vehicle. (community regulations can be weird, yes.)

concerning hammocks and other more or less discreet alternative sleeping arrangements: we'll have to handle these on a case-by-case basis at the spot in ommen, together with the owner of the venue. basically bottomline, if a sleeping arrangement works for you, can be put up without damaging the property, and does not risk the owner any fines, it will be allowed.

hope that helps, ask if anything is unclear :)

Demo is coming along nicely. Mood & storyboard are done but the music isn't. Found a guy on Fiverr willing to help out but as we say in Dutch: 'die sloeg de plank mis'. So now I'm stuck with a soundtrack missing the final part. But not to worry! I found another musician to finish the job. If time would have allowed I would have sequenced it myself but the music I need is a bit out of my comfort zone. Do got a hardcore tekno track in the works which I hope to finish in time. Just bought a Behringer TD-3 (a TB303-clone) so maybe some acid will be involved.

Mmm. Luckily we have some time left till the deadline so everything is bound to end well. I'm still a bit suprised by the visual uuh.. Guideline that has been the progression from Zombies to wildflOwer but the goal is to release the next logical step in this visual journey in Ommen.

Now that Revision is moving to a streaming party (noooes), it does free up some (building up, tearing down and traveling) time. More demomaking it is!

Outline is still taking place. Hoping we've crushed this virus beforehand. Best of health for everyone and stay safe in the mean time.

I do hope this year's Outline party goes ahead .... would be so great to see everyone there once again in the new location at Ommen. Take care everyone, wishing you all good health and so on, do stay safe and Gasman and myself (and * possibly * CiH as well) will see you all there :)

Due to the fluidity of the Covid-19 situation, we decided not to open registration and ticket sales yet. At the moment, the location is Ommen is closed for business at least until April 6th. There's no way to predict with any certainty what the situation after April 6th will be like. If travel and event restrictions are lifted at least a week before Ascension day we will be in Ommen to welcome those who were able to plan their journey despite the Covid-19 mess. In the unfortunate case that no or only limited numbers of visitors can make their way to Ommen in the Ascension day weekend we will postpone the party to a later date, probably in the fall or winter.

Sounds like a resaonable way to handle it. Either way I'll secure the weekend for Outline. :)
Hope Outline will not be impacted by COVID-19 as well, but I truly fear for the worst. Good luck and wisdom to the Orga team.

Earlier tonight the government of the Netherlands announced that, as a countermeasure against the spread of the Covid-19 virus, all gatherings of more than two people (except marriages and funerals) are explicitly forbidden and punishable by law until at least June 1st of 2020. Unfortunately this means we have no other options than to cancel or postpone Outline 2020. If you have already booked your travel and/or accomodations we recommend you to cancel those bookings if still possible. We will be looking to reschedule the party some time in the fall or winter of this calendar year, further information about a potential new date will be announced as soon as the ban on gatherings is lifted.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. For some of our crew this would have been the 17th consecutive year as (co-)organizer of Outline. So you can probably imagine how disappointed we are about having to cancel the party now. However, we firmly believe that in times like these health and safety clearly should be the leading factors in any decision maing process, however unfortunate to the perception of the individual the outcome of such decisions may be.

Regretfully yours, Havoc & team

@Havoc sorry to hear that but fully understandable. Let us know if you are taking a financial hit or need a sham marriage to get the party to happen later in the year or next year. I'm sure divorcing Maali afterwards won't hurt too much ;)
Wait what? Maali ?

Hope you can reschedule rather than to cancel.. but only a pandemic (or asteroid hit) can bring Outline to a stop! Keep on rocking!

This might suprise a lot of people but I've never been much of a planner. I kinda make up demos as a I along really. So for this 2020 edition I actually tried to have at least a decent structure. Not saying I made a roadmap or had JIRA-stories, I never even mapped out the the content that was needed on a timeline. Having said that, I subconsciously had quite a strict planning and I finalised I all the creative choices for every building block that was need months ago. If this was a commercial effort one might argue that the pre-production phase was finished long ago. But it isn't and I don't care if the demo would have finished either first, somewhere in the middle or last place.

I love making demos, even though I'm well aware the combined level of design+code might not win Assembly or The Gathering or Revision today, it is this focus on crafting things that keeps this scene alive right? Strive for excellence. And than all of a sudden this whole makeshift planning goes all Pete Thong in a couple of days.

But we have to postpone, delay and cancel. It is the only sane option. Not just because Dutch law says we have to, but also for the countless reasons that have been stated elsewhere (for example the Revision-thread). Stay safe people. Stay healthy. Keep that 1.5m distance. Corona is no joke.

Yes it does feel heavy. It really sucks. Like Havoc said: 17 years is lot. Longest running annual demoscene event in The Netherlands. I think the entire team had high hopes we could be the first demoparty in healthy, clean slate situation and we as a team could be a welcoming host for all of you <3. But we can't and we won't and that is very disappointing.

But this isn't where this story ends. There will be a next edition of Outline, there will be more demos. I will get to finish this one and others like it. Block by block and scene by scene there is more time for polish. More time for mastering audio. Better mixing. Decent lighting. Maybe even better storytelling through small details, who knows. We have to turn all these cancelled parties into something positive right?
</rant>

So uhm yeah, besides al this rambling of mine, you might take note of this:

We have new dates for the party! Outline will, if circumstances don't disallow us to, take place on November 6th-9th of 2020 at the originally planned location in Ommen! Put that in your agendas please and expect more information to come after Easter! :)
