Revision 2020 - April 10th to 13th

I'm scheduled to fly in from the USA, and with Germany quarantining ~1000 people thus far, I'm starting to get concerned. Have the orgas looked into what happens if:

- Germany bans large public meeting spaces, like Switzerland just did today?
- Travel in/out of Germany is stopped? (already travelers from Italy, South Korea, Japan and Iran need to disclose their health status upon arrival)

A response from the orgas would be helpful.

I know that a pandemic is nobody's fault, so I'm willing to let the orgas keep my Revision ticket even if they have to cancel Revision, just to cover their non-refundable costs.

We are aware of the possible implications of the current Covid-19 outbreak.

As of now there is no immediate concern about Revision and we're in contact with the authorities and our partners. So far there are no cases reported in the vicinity of Saarbrücken and as long as that stays that way, I don't believe that we are in any kind of danger of cancellation.

If you, however come from a country with reported cases there obviously might be other restrictions for your travel to Germany.

As for your questions - we're observing the situation and are in constant contact with the authorities as stated above. If Germany or one of our partners (e.g. the location) will impose some kind of restriction on how or if we can do Revision this year, we'll let you know ASAP.

But we're 100% committed to finish our preparations so we can have a great party in April. So y'all don't worry just yet and keep working on your releases :)

It's more likely that you will get as high as the mall next door.

I'm not at all on the corona hype train but, to be honest, the chance is way higher at a demoparty. Personal hygiene amongst demosceners at parties are not particularly high and then comes the hugging, kissing and especially drinking booze from the same bottle. I would say that if a couple of sceners bring it with them, a large amount would leave with it. But if your physical health otherwise is fine, you shouldnt be in any danger if infected.

After all it has to be a wise decision, depending on the circumstances around Easter time. German official authorities are not that well prepared, though. I run a nursery home and until this day we did not even get ONE official sign of life and masterplan what to do by local hygienic department - only the information that it is on US to work out a pandemic plan plus we are responsible for employee protection like masks and all that - neglecting the fact these are currently sold out anywhere. And helping ZERO in next steps.

So, I don’t wanna join the panic train aswell and already bought my Revision ticket. I would love to party with you again and if circumstances are ok, I will do so for sure.

Just saying that following advises from local hygienic department is sometimes as useful as being a Lemming walking towards a cliff. ;)

Possible countermeasures:

Extra Revision hand wash soap
Corona test kit at entrance (no one enters before having had the test)
Free Desire mouth caps

Corona virus will probably disappear when spring arrives (high temperatures), as does the flu virus. Then don't panic for now...

so its winter in thailand?
Be sure that corona virus doesn't format your C drive!
Thanks, D-Fox, that's exactly what I wanted to hear :-) Glad you're on top of it, and I'll monitor communications.

The Swiss ban on large public events makes me nervous that Germany could follow.. the Geneva Motor Show probably has better hygiene than Revision. If it doesn't get shut down, and me and my non-refundable plane tickets certainly hope not, then there are some things that could be done, like 1. hand sanitizer/soap by the entrance, bathrooms, etc., 2. give out face masks to anyone you see coughing or sneezing (wearing a mask if you're not yet sick is not recommended), and 3. you may have to check where visitors are coming from ahead of time, and make a tough decision if they're from virus-heavy regions. And for all visitors, just try to touch other people less often. :)

I guess it's possible it will die down by April, but if Trump believes it, I'm less likely to.

Telling geeks and nerds to " try to touch other people less often " is hilarious! :)

Well, if everyone gets infected, then we can AT LAST say "The scene is dead", and close the thread. I'll be there, of course-

Look at the bright side, if everyone gets infected, Revision gets a 14 days quarantine..

Well if we all are sick there is no need to cancel anything :D
it was nice knowing you all!
it would be nice to have temperature check at the entrance!!!
temperature is ok - get a free beer
not ok - call a doctor and a free vodka

Yeah, I'm on the fence about buying a flight at this point. I'd love some update from the organizers about the prospect of cancelling the event.
how often do you need an update? i mean, dfox posted this in this very thread a few days ago:

Taking into account that some people were on the brink of getting cardiac arrest / high pressure from just watching Amiga demo compo last year, measuring temperature here and there might not be the best thing.

As frequent party visitors we probably have already been exposed to shit not yet known to science, so our bodies develop enough self-protection of all kind to survive one more. Cheers to 14 days quarantine in E-Werk - I finally might have enought time to have a talk with everyone I wanted to :D

Going by the annual post-easter party sickness updates, I'm afraid corona'll have to get in line with the rest of the shit we run into. Also, I promise not to lick you.

Just sanitize anything you're going to hand to anyone beforehand you'll be good. Also avoid meeting anyone who had been to Iran in past 14 days. The outbreak here is bad and there was no quarantine.
