Amiga compo at Decrunch or Nordlicht?

category: parties [glöplog]

For those who have created an Amiga production for Revision, what about arranging to meet at a different venue? What about Decrunch, and having a really big Amiga compo there? Although I'm not totally confident that it is safe from the corona craze either. Or if more than three productions show up, maybe we can convince the organizers of some party like e.g. Nordlicht to host an Amiga compo? I'm just collecting some ideas. Suggestions?

Revision will still have the Amiga compo.

Will animations be allowed in this compo? Asking for a friend...

Haha. :) Animations would be fine for me.

And I really hope (and believe) their online compo will be awesome. That said, I definitely understand those who'd like to release at a physical party where they can attend in the flesh.
Big demos for smaller parties is a good idea.

Yes, I think so. But it may deserve a bigger/better bigscreen than last year. :-)

bifat: That sounds like a really cool idea worth considering, provided there will be enough interest overall for us to hold a dedicated Amiga competition. Will have to discuss this with the team at the next orga meeting :)

also, with this being a X party year, I'm not too concerned that people would also demand a dedicated C64 competition, especially when the oldschool compo does not host any Amiga entries as a result of the new competition ;)

Yes, generalized "oldschool" compos are unfortunate for all. At Deadline we're trying to liberate the 8/16bit platforms from mutual entanglement, but it depends on the number of entries if this can succeed. The big parties are bursting at the seams with entries lumped into the same compo (see f.ex. Evoke), while the smaller ones have problems to attract entries for balanced competitions.

bifat: we haven't announced all of the Decrunch 2020 competitions yet, but yes, obviously we will host Amiga Demo compo as this platform is close to our hearts since the very beginning. We welcome everyone to contribute and we are ready to handle the biggest Amiga Demo competition since the last Revision :) Some people declared Amiga executable prods for the next DECRUNCH already, so with some effort from all of us, it could just happen. We have a nice new venue in the center of Wrocław with many rooms to party inside and cool landscape to hang around outside. There will be more screens of better quality than at last venue. We are still trying to work out the best possible solution.

I guess some groups will opt for online compo, some others would rather wait for 2021 edition, but some just halt the demo development, as Revision is only one :-)

Right, there's only Revision and nothing else. :)
Irony aside, it doesn't look so good... wrt Amiga compos, we've got Decrunch, GERP, Revision. Also there's Deadline with combined 68k. What else?
It doesn't look like there'll be Datastorm this year, and there was no Retrokomp/Loaderror last year.

Not a dedicated Amiga compo, but the oldschool compo at Solskogen always has Amiga entries.
RetroKomp/LOAD ERROR party won't happen this year, in fact we had to put it down as the venue was sold to some real estate company. BUT, we'll try to recreate it with our frineds in some other city in north Poland, with separate Amiga and 8bit compos of course. Currently, we aim for Oct/Nov.2021 which is quite realistic. So hope to meet you in person at some parties this year and stay tuned for the late 2021 announcements from the former RK/LE Team :)

By the time we will be allowed to celebrate parties again the final capacitor will be broken. ;)

The machines should be recapped with new capacitors already, and the parties can go back to where they came from: The illegal underground :)

Thanks Guys! Ofkoz, the Zubrovka tradition will be back too! 2021 is still far away, hope to meet you at some party this year. =) Till then, please treat your Amigas kindly and recap them as you sit at home these days ;)

Excellent news, Sachy! This party is always our Amiga priority and Zubrowka as a vaccine should be useful as well ;)
