and then you wonder why ppl go away from the scene

category: general [glöplog]
maali: you mean those events where "ppl just want to be entertained, not sit through half a dozen boring prods"?

sorry, but i cant recall any scene aera where people got respect JUST because they do smth in a country where the scene is weak. if the stuff is mediocre, it absolutely plays no role where it got done imho. especially nowadays. in earlier times you could say "oh, they just dont know how to do it because the infrastructure is bad". but nowadays through internet information is available basically everywhere at least in europe.

of course it is good to vitalize scene in countries where it's not so strong. but i dont see any need of hailing people just because they live somewhere.

ofcourse you dont. you're german. you got 5 parties a year. what the hell do you care if newbies in other countries are motivated or not. i on the other hand have to live here and look them in the face and tell them they suck and should quit couz no one gives a fuck whenever trying to convince them to improve and participate.

Firstly, if I don't like a demo, I don't like a demo. Simple.

Secondly, on a semi-related note...

i mean, whats the fucking point?
the man spends like 1 month doing a comeback,

Why is "time spent" a factor in determining if a demo is good or not? S_tec and I have spent over six months working on our latest effort. According to ASD's readme file, this is the same amount of time they spent on "Planet Risk". Does that mean our demo will be just as good as theirs?

Hell no! They have *far* more experience under their belts. But that's pretty much the point.

Over the past six months myself and s_tec have learned shitloads of stuff relevant to making demos, and that's a cool feeling. No matter how many thumbs down we may get, nobody can take this learning experience away from us.

To me, learning is more of a confidence booster than some 16x16 pixelated upward pointing thumbs. But on the other hand, it's still nice to see what other people's reactions might be.

And neither of us are expecting unconditional and unanimous thumbs up just because we're on the other side of the Atlantic.
thom: and now figure out what the point was actually about.

Hm, i recall bad comments on my first prod; which i though sucked; but i wanted to get better; thats why i continued. I want good comments for good shit; not because i live in norway and can decide who get to buy oil from us

ps: The point is you're whiny.
thom: you're getting warmer...

thom: because every single time people spend 2 hours doing something, you just have to praise them and shut the fuck up. NEVER EVER GIVE YOUR OPINION!!

Well, actually it's not my way of doing things but obviously whines think it's cool that way.

Tell them it's not exactly what you would have expected and they start yelling, spitting and tell you to FUCK OFF :)
Bad luck if they're admin of a website, they even start using the layout of the website to serve their very personal griefs ;)

ps is the greatest and bestest moral supporter I've ever seen
let's boozetuga and watch more demos

wtf! I would be very angry if someone did the same as PS did here for demos I had made. make the author look like a crybaby who has cried on ps` shoulder. Yes it is sad that the best demos dont win at parties. The only way to prevent this is denying ppl to drink before the compo/voting so that they vote for "funnyprods". :P But denying ppl to be drunk while watching the compo would for sure "kill the scene".

Yet he likes Chimera, demands binaries for video entries and tells people to fuck off like it's christmas with "fuck you" doubling as "merry christmas".

there was this french guy and this portugese guy who got into some sort of dispute.

noone really knew why. So why doesn't matter.

In the end, they didn't resolve their quarrel. They both got disformed children, lived terribly unhappy lives and had a real bad tendency to give their wives a beating. In the middle of this tragedy, a norwegian and some other poeple stood and watched helplessly.

It was a really bad story that could have had bad consequences.
but instead they both came to demozone and got shit wasted! (/stoned)

Hey, are you promoting demonzone with the use of illegal substances? ;)

I can see the trend continue: "Evoke 2006 - Shooting up heroin is allowed in the main hall"

i mean, whats the fucking point?
the man spends like 1 month doing a comeback, codes the best 4k, demo and 64k of the party, for the only demoparty on his country.

the 4k gets disqualified couz only the debug version runs on the compo machine (which is bigger then the size limit allows).

the demo gets 2nd place couz ppl do the newbie support votes to the other crew doing a decent demo..

and the 64k gets co 2nd place and only thumbs up from friends.

i mean, whats the fucking point on coming back to the scene? more of this bullshit?

enjoy your reallife vic, get those studies issues settled and a decent job. these wankers dont give a fuck

Is what scares the ppl away from the scene. Oh yeah, and boohoo
