flash demoscene

category: general [glöplog]
After the beta version of flash player 8 release loos like there will be more movement using this tool for demoscene productions. One of the main new things (finally) are the getPixel, putPixel functions and you can see the firsts rotozoomers done with it, some fake deph of field, metaballs like effect and much more!

Hope someone beats all that soon!

Rotozoom don't work here ... and the metaballs cannot called metaballs, just balls ...

Not interesting yet...

cyb0rg: Probably because you still have a version < 8

install beta 8 then restart your browser ;)

ok, i still dont get it. what is it good for. if you want crossplatform architecture independent stuff with lots of possibilitys use java please. flash is homo.

i mean java is way more powerfull compared to the possibilitys of flash. you can even do a putPixel and getPIxel ;). i mean have u ever seen a good flash demo? its good for interaction on the web but nothing more. beside that its a commercial package. there is no free alternative.

please notice that this is just my opinion. it dont say its like stated here.

i seem to remember there being some pretty good flash/shockwave demos. I'm not too convinced by the flash 8 demos so far tho.. shockwave looks more interesting.

true, we were talking about flash. But this is pouet, remember ;)

Flash + shockwave + java all have possibilities for demos, i was just pointing out that i think shockwave is perhaps still the best.

rotozoomer does not work, I can't see any DOF in the DOF effect (maybe it's so much fake that there's nothing to see anymore) and the metaballs... has been said before.
so, flash demoscene seems to have a long way to go ;)

It's the same as using GDI to make a demo. Sucky.

WTF?! Either I've missed something or you guys should check for valid tags. ;)
Blame the stupid Pouet.net BBCode, for not knowing the oh so famous <OFF TOPIC> tag :D

<on topic>
Sure the new flash 8 features look great...
But, damn ! why the hell coding effects under flash while it will be 100 times faster in DirectX ?

And, as a limited platform, flash 5/6/7 is a good way to make cool stuff with simple features (vector + bitmap keyframing) since you have good ideas to play with. When accelerated 3D had its expansion in 1999, every demo featured the same dull boring alpha blending thing. Flash 8 will allow alot of uninspired people to provide plenty of shitty rotozoomers, water effects etc... Poor us.

This could have been done in Flash faster, easier.

kohai: The question is why do you end the tag (<bla />) when the content is followed by an end tag (</bla>) straight ahead?
Because i meesed up my tags with an <br/> one ... and you're right, this won't pass the W3C online validator ... ^^

Seriously, who cares ? i don't jump up on every scener saying 'BASS', so please, leave my poor '/' alone, and let there be fun !
