aphex twin wannabe music -_-

It's not like his work is the climax of contemporary music. Let's face it: 90% of his stuff is just mediocre. The rest is self-created mysteries around his persona and he-did-it-10-years-ago-already credit.

dip: that's not the way i see it, really..

and the way i see it, most music in demos is just watered down scene renditions of something interesting.. but hey, pay no attention to me! i'm just clueless and i obviously know nothing about music!

rm, please name more than 5 demos (all epochs and all platforms) having _jungle_ as music.

same with more than 20 demos with drum'n'bass, apart from fucked up ltj bukem "intelligent" shit carbon copies.

and then put it in relation with all that incestous "demomusic" we have every day.

but i absolutely second you on "watered down something of something interesting". really original demoscene musicians in terms of allover originality can be counted with fingers of 4 hands.

anyway, stuff i'd LOVE to hear in some demo some day, but haven't had a chance to:

- post-atr breakscore (á la bong-ra, istari lasterfahrer, shitmat, handbag abba etc.). infact i even know a demoscener doing that kind of stuff (releasing on sozialistischer plattenbau)...

- uk dub!!! why oh why noone has ever done a thick uk steppers soundtrack (think about iration steppas or disciples) for a demo? i could imagine such beautiful visualisations for stuff like that... but probably music which gets released mostly on 10" vinyl and gets sold for horrendous prices in continentyl europe (20euro for a 4-track 10" is no seldomness) is just too much to expect people in the scene to know and appreciate...

- some real ghettotech! apart from that farbrausch mockery, i haven't heard anything in that direction as a demo soundtrack. (interesting sidefact: the guy behind glaslaserkabel, germany's only ghettotech label, is an old pc scener).

- something with interesting vocals! not that we don't have enough vocal tracks in demos, but somehow the composers don't come up with imagination enough to overcome the thing you hear in the charts every day. there are other things to do with a voice than melodious catchy female vocals...

/me probably sounds like EP right now... :P

I'm more than happy to help with any metal, country, or rap stylings.

I believe these are the 3 areas of music that the scene has the most disparate opinions on.
yay.. dolly parton in demos \o/

ugh, you guys are either missing my point or just being wankers :) (as this is pouet, i assume it's the 2nd option)
dipswitch: and i'd happily do some ghettotech for a demo, it's just that no one would be up to the task to do a demo around it ;)
isn't it just a perfect task for po-RNO? =)

welll.... we'll see ;)
rm: no, I got your point and agree. But it's still possible to 'do whatcha want' and agree with both you AND Dipswitch.

At least on my planet.

Maali: you need to get FLT to use 'Islands in the Stream' in a demo so we can cover it.
I forgot to mention,
we're also looking for a *skilled* and *active* musician able to create good *demoish* scores (any genre) to join us.

stop this nonsense.

let´s all go back to '96 and make GOA TRANCE DEMOS ALL THE TIME like there´s no tomorrow!!!!!!

such happy times... that would surely rule.

alternatively, someone should force the old dune/orange back to his good old self. mark a.j. pisses off and all that.

Actually i'm looking for a musician who can perform fast'n'furious'n'agressive'n'memorable'n'expressive stuff while not relying on techno boomboom shit, i guarantee top-notch code while alien & kenet will handle the gfx side.

Write less and compose more,
pouet less and demomake more,
wank less and create quality more,
judge less and love more.
