Demos/Intros wanted for a RetroPC (PII-333/Win98SE)

category: general [glöplog]

Hi, I am searching for some Demoscene-Stuff for my Retro-PC.
I like "old-effects" the most (e.g. Starfield, stutterfree Scrollers, Rasterbars etc.)

Some Intros from RAZOR are very nice, I think there must be more stuff,
but I need some advice.

Because of the limitations of the chosen machine with its components there
will only be a timeline from the late 90's to the very early 2000's scene stuff
possible.

These are the specs of the machine:

CASE: Scenic Pro-M6
MOB: FSC D981-Mainboard (Intel 440fx)
CPU: Pentium II-333 Mhz
FPU: Voodoo3-3000 16MB (original DX7-Driver installed)
RAM: 512MB
OS: Win98SE / latest possible DirecX-Version installed

Thank You!
Greetings

You might as well download VICE and watch 1980s c64 demos till your eyes turn red. :)

I only collect Dos/Windows-Scene Stuff for this PC. Emulation of other machines with this PII does not wirk very well. The RAZOR Stuff is very nice, although it mostly has not many advices and thumbs-up.

This one for example is really good and works perfect on my machine.
So, newschool P2/P3 stuff that have oldschool scrollers or kinda oldschool effects sometimes.

I'm afraid the Scenic Pro-M6 case meets minimum requirements of only a very few demos

For "oldschool" stuff, maybe better look for things from 1993 and before. Amiga and the C64 are best of such things, they were never a big thing on the PC.

Your system is excellent for viewing the golden age PC demos though.

sutterfree Scrolling with Emulation on this PC means:
- Getting an Emulation that works with a PII with full frames
- Using a DOS-Emulator with a CRT that Displays 50 Hz.

Otherwise it will stutter.

But that is not the goal. The goal is, getting the best "oldskool" and "newskool" effects runnning on that special machine.

I'll post the Windows-Scene stuff that runs fine and is already tested later.

Perhaps I'll change the CPU to the maximum possible in this machine (Celeron 533)
Thats some funky fpu you got there sir
I still recommend Trixter's 'PC Demos Explained' and his 'Mobylist' on oldskool.org for some demos for that system, and also take a look at the 1990s scene.org lists of awards or 'picks' or whatever, when/if scene.org puts their pages back up
