Demosplash 2018 - 2-3 November - Pittsburgh, USA

category: parties [glöplog]

CMUCC is proud to announce Demosplash 2018!
The party will be held at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on November 2nd and 3rd. If you register before October 9, admission for the entire event including meals is only USD $25.

Now in its 8th year, Demosplash will have all the events you've come to enjoy, plus some new events we hope you'll enjoy, including:

* A live chiptune performance by Dya

* An exciting new live shader compo

* A new event space featuring tables for your laptops and hackery projects (as long as they're not making noise during compos), retrogaming closer to the main party, and more convenient parking.

* A newly upgraded compo machine, still featuring dual Titan X Pascals and an i7 7700K, but upgraded from 16 GB to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM

* Screenings of classic demos on on one of the largest collections of functioning original hardware in the US

* Retro gaming on tons of different platforms (C64, Sega Genesis, Amiga 1200, and Sharp X68000 just to name a few)

* Talks and seminars on demoscene-related topics

* And of course, lots of compos :)

Updating with some more information about our musical performer for Demosplash 2018.

Dya is a multi-instrumentalist, video game composer, and chiptune archaeologist from San Antonio, Texas who excavates the sounds of consoles and computers from ages past to craft the sounds of the future. His music encompasses an eclectic blend of melodically driven synthwave, prog, punk, and edm jams using tools like the Sega Genesis, Nintendo Entertainment System and Commodore 64 with a DIY twist. Dya is also a proud member of several demo groups including Hokuto Force, Desire, and Resistance. You can also pick up his latest chiptune album "Fall Damage" on bandcamp: https://dyamusic.bandcamp.com/album/fall-damage
