at assembly '2k I met hellfire/haujobb who came along with several other german dudes, among them faxe and poti of black maiden. I didn't know those before, so hellfire introduced them to me.
well, as some people might know I usually wear a scarf of "1. fc koeln" on demoparties, that's a football club from cologne.
the next day I was just walking around when suddenly someone jumped behind me and asked: "hey, are you from cologne ??"
well, it was poti :) (who lives near cologne)
hellfires comment: "poti, this is styx and you already met him yesterday"
"can't remember..."
since those days poti always says, I'm a finn from cologne :) (and tells that story again and again several people ;)
what I found most amusing was the fact, that he asked me in english whether I was from cologne. if he thought that, the logical consequence would have been asking it in german =)

Fetching our intro compo third prize in Assembly '01 with ld0d. It sure was kewl. Also in Assembly '98 met some really great people and we spent maybe 20 hours just chatting in the burgerplace.

Hmmm.. There are so many good memories and funny stories. Can't pick the definite best one, but here's something:

The Gathering '97 was first foreign (outside Finland) party for me and a big experience already because of that. We went there with a legendary HiRMU bus (my first bustrip as well). I knew only Primon from the bus beforehands and otherwise the people were more or less famous Finnish sceners from Orange, CNCD, COMA, TPOLM, HiRMU etc.

The party was great, weather was good, and we spent a lot of time outside in the sun. Inside Orange and CNCD guys were finishing their demo for the competition in a funny disordered mess. First there was Galvados coding something and after some time he left and Wog woke up and crawled from under the table and was wondering what the f**k had happened to the demo and started coding ... And then there was of course Dune mixing the things as well. Well, at least they managed to deliver the demo to the competition even if it wasn't very finished at that point.

In the evening we were having a real nice bbq just outside some motel and I heard some partying noise from there. Had to check it out and I (and Jugi who followed) found out there was Norwegian Melon & Scoop guys room party. And they were drunk as pigs, too. :) When they heard Jugi's name they started almost worshipping him and telling how great Dope by Complex was. Jogeir Liljedahl imitated Darth Vader and other strange things happened that night.

Needless to say, compos were as nice as on previous Gatherings. CNCD vs. Orange won PC demo compo and TBL Amiga demo. I joined HiRMU during the party and made a lot of new friends. All in all TG97 was really nice party.

AT least two very impressive situations: first at TheParty 2001, when the farbrausch guys called us on stage to share the intro prize, and then at Mekka Symposium 2k2, when they brought us a shitload of beer crates bought with the prize money!

One very cool scene feeling moment was in Slovenia, Abort Party 1997, when the main organizer (minmax) expressed his happiness about the slovenian scene being active and partying, like "we finally demonstrated that Slovenia can make good demos...". It was quite very special.

Shit. I've never even been to a party. But my plan is to save up and fly over for MS2003, enter the mp3/ogg competition, and schmooz with a few 1337 sceners. (Nobody likes my music, so I'll probably get voted DFL. Does that win a prize?)
Remedy'98, Doyl walking around naked with an SS-cap asking people if they wanted to hug...

The party 01, when i was at hospital with 2 nurse, or perhaps my first party, the ltp3.

... now i just hope that i can ever cash that TP01 check, else the beer4mfx was the most senseless 300 Euros I ever spent ;) - But anyway, the fun and Uncle-X's wide open mouth was worth it.

For my best party impression: There were too many ;) But some things that were really cool:

- Being on TP 1994, my first foreign demoparty. Almost 4000 people. Three halls. Everything plastered with sheets, ads and all the likes. HOLY F**K. And then getting 6th place in the C64 demo compo with my first party release. And of course being able to watch Cyboman 2 on the big screen - maybe the first 64k intro which really did people go "wow". Like all on TP4. And me. And of course getting to know all of these people I only knew of credits in demos. It was amazing.

- Symposium '96, where my dreams of winning a compo came true even twice, and I first had the feeling of "belonging there". The party was extremely cool, too, and I learned that getting into the orga area is easier as you think - just look like you're important :). And of course the birth of "Steeler hat dicke Eier".

- The Party 1997. Winning the C64 demo compo with SDs and Second Reality 64. I was standing there and almost wanted to cry. Or something.

- Every MS since 1998. Everytime i was able to stand behind the big windows of the orga room and was able to watch the hall. That felt really great, and it never stopped to do so.

Worst party experience? On Evoke... 2000 i think. A really young girl brought by some people who didn't even know her started to go nuts. Too much alcohol, too much weed, and too much depression and suicidal tendencies. All together. As somebody wanted to put her to sleep, she started screaming wildly and running out of the hall in panic. As the only person having seen this and being not-too-much-on-drugs, I started to chase her to get her back into the hall. She kept running away, and as i almost got her, she cried "i want to die" and tried to jump into a small river. For some unknown reason, i managed to catch her and carry her back into the hall. I had quite a few wounds and my clothes were completely dirty and torn... and the rest of the night we tried to calm her down, and she was lying in her sleeping back, shivering and crying all the time. Faxe/BM (2nd Evoke main orga) was watching her, and he didn't look too good either after she's finally fallen asleep.

The only funny thing that night was that after we called an ambulance for her and the medics were looking for her, XXX/Haujobb entered the ambulance car and drove one round on the parking place. Drunk of course. They didn't think that was too funny. We did :)

ps, she looked peaceful and shy all the time, only in this night she wasn't. And HOW she wasnt. The best thing were the "friends" who brought her, who were even more drunk/stoned than her and thought she would calm down if they shouted and started to beat her.

No, i can imagine nicer nigths on demo parties. But apart from that, Evk00 rocked ;)

bdn1- the first party i ever attended .. lots of local people that actually build the base for the feeliing of 'belonging to them';

convention96- my first c64/amiga party .. it was really special, the whole atmosphere was pretty different than on all those pc-parties (i don't want to start that discussion again, it's just the nice rememberance i have) ..

mekka96- my first pc-party, met some of the radical rhythms people that i joined later that year, also made first contacts with the german demoscene ..

mekka/symposium- falling over a half-passed out hunkpapa/birdhouse projects .. i thought he would beat me up, but instead of doing that he gave me what was left in his can of beer .. w00t. nice guy. met him this year again.

evoke97- beeing part of the organizing team, yet i only put stamps on some peoples hands .. heh.

bizarre98- all those dutch people .. i didn't understand a thing, yet i got to know some of the people i knew only through the irc before.

ms2k-1- beeing drunk with the trsi/breeze/scoopex people .. it was fun, because i hardly knew any of them before.

ms2k2- seeing all the people again after beeing off-scene for like 2 years. i have to say the ms2k2 was my best party yet. thanks for everyone to come and making my 4 days. :)

flights arent that expensive (well they are abit more now then 1 year ago but they are coming down again slowly) no reason for beeing in us restricting you from visiting demoparties.
the trip to the partyplace itself is half the adventure said the elder demoscene gods and its true.

Ah, don't worry about it. I don't have any money, am entering a university next fall, don't have time, and I'm not much fun at parties.

When I can, I will come. The scene will still be dead in a few years, I hope? =)
Getting a ride from the airport isn't much of an adventure.. but getting one from farbrausch is pretty cool. :)

Flying is more expensive than last year (lucky I went then!) but, do make the pilgrimage to Mekka, at least once in your life.

ps: the trip to the partyplace itself is half the adventure

Ain't that the truth :) After having spent a couple of hours in a locked moving vehicle with ile, joegi and plek (and a couple of dubious cds have been demonstrativetly thrown out of the window as a reposonse to someone's tastes in music) I usually had tons of fun.

Anyway, fond memories...

TP94:
The bustrip itself. Arriving in the main hall (pretty awesome) And the kicker: when Future Crew ordered a couple of pizzas to be delivered at the information desk, which then had to be announced over the intercom system (pretty much to the annoyance of certain organizer types). =)

SIH'95:
Despite the bloody heat, I had tons of fun there.
Met lots of people (like Lizardking, who was kind of a god to me in those days) We released our first real demo there, and we managed to rank high enough to be called onto the stage, something that really stuck with me. I still wear the shirt ocassionally.

SE'96:
After a while we (Mux, Mr. Fanatic, Pozor and me) realized that we bought such an insane amount of beer that we would never finish it in the days remaining, so we started handing it out to people passing by in the entry hall -it was raining, and beer wasn't allowed in the main hall. After a while a bunch of people stayed around, and a nice atmosphere was created. After a while a girl in the organizing team started shouting at some of the organizers in the crowd that they were supposed to set the right example and get back to work, since they're organizers. One looked at his organizer shirt, perplexed He then took it off, stating that he wasn't an organizer for the moment and that he was currently enojying a beer with some nice people.

Of all the parties I went to I guess those were the best times.

Assembly'94 - First ever demoparty I visited. Watching the c64-compos on the bigscreen just blew my mind...

Zoo'97 and '98 - Best parties I've ever attended... c64 only... watching some (very drunk) guy from Extend trying to do a somersault on a concrete-floor and landing on his head was just too funny... :)

The Party '97 - First ever demoparty I visited outside Finland. Having our PC-intro crash on the compomachine in the weirdest possible way was quite amusing. After seeing the introcompo I was quite happy that our intro didn't work :)

Assembly'99 - First time I ever won a competetion at a larger party (and I collected 5 prizes altogether at asm99 due to the fact that I delivered some amigastuff by Exploder/Extreme to the party (Seeing Abyss' face when going to collect the fourth prize was just too good)) =)
