It's still hard to decide. My current favorite is Robotnik. Smashing! I watch it 5 times per day!!! =)

Heh,. too many! The C64 list the way it starts till Arcanum is exactly the same for me too :)

On the CPC, the best demo? It's really hard to decide. It's funny that I rarely watch demos on the CPC because 99% of them are boring scroller spacetros. They were good to watch for first times but yesterday I had mostly the mood to rerun demos like Face Hugger's Ultimate Megademo (a classic), Ecole Buissoniere (a newschool classic) and even RTS (No matter if it looks ugly and slow sometimes, but because it's one of the very few CPC demos without a space). And of course my 1st CPC demo A step beyond ;) - but seriously because it tried to avoid the space/menu logic of the mazor CPC demos and so it's one of the very few I have the mood to watch it again and again like a trip (Even if I believe that as a coder I never got the feeling of others who suddenly downloaded it and watched the whole of it for the first time). Trackmos for CPC are still too back, I hope my next one will be a smashing one (this one was slow paced and not so fast for some and I think they are right)..

Dear Oswald,
No offense to you, but it seems you didn´t read my post all the way through.... I merely said that since the amiga was ONE OF THE machines that advanced demo-making in a serious way. Quote: "Amiga, and before that, C64, CPC, Spectrum - THAT IS OUR LEGACY". I´ve been a c64-user and scener since 1984 and was awestruck from the beginning. I wasn´t telling you where YOUR roots are, merely reminiscing my own (GCS, Dynamic Duo, ESI, Bencor Brothers, the Venlo parties, etc.). Of course there were other machines, but what did they matter? ;) Sorry if it rubbed ya the wrong way........ keep cool.

I think a lot of people here will agree with me that Hardwired by Crionics & The Silents is one of the best demo ever made and defined the bases of demo style for decades.

Best Amiga demo: Hardwired and Nexus 7 fight for the win I'd say. Both innovative as hell and way ahead of their time.Everything is perfect in these demos and both left me breathless the first time I watched them. Desert Dream is close but will remain 3rd on my personal list.

Desert Dream is probably the one that wowed me most, but I find it really hard to compare across platforms and over the years. Phenomena by Enigma really blew me away back in the day, as did Hardwired. Voyage by Razor1911 too, damn, it's just to hard to choose so I'll just say AMMMMMMIIIIIIGGGGAAAA ;)

"best" is subjective.

No freaking idea. It's indeed most practical to look for milestones imho too, even if they weren't your actual favorite ones.
