hm.. isn't atari owned by infogrames?? Why would they want to make a console? It's a big cost and there are other really good consoles on the market, I don't think any company would try too make it in the console market right now... but what do I know about that...

basically, you described a [ppc-based] pc. with software emulation of old atari consoles. and already available oss.
here are my suggestions:
1) keep what you have, install linux, install an emulator.
2) find an AmigaOne, buy it, install OS4, install an atari amulator

Random facts: Atari can't use all of infogrames' money. Atari only does software nowadays. Microsoft didn't kill Atari. Writing in caps won't make people listen to you. Running 680xx Atari demos on an emulator on a PowerPC-based computer isn't more fun just because it says Atari on the box.
