category: general [glöplog]

there should be msx in the platforms list. There's some nice msx demos for example from bandwagon. http://www.hut.fi/~asilvast/bw/

Oh yeah do it! I think MSX has quite some demos, there was an ftp and I know at least 2 groups producing stuff. It is bigger than Oric scene which is on the list, so there should be a place for it in this site too. Although I haven't found the time yet to search for an emulator and watch any MSX demo (What emul do you suggest?). I hope someone else here knows and is able to contribute and add the new MSX demos, if no I will search and watch several MSX demos oneday...

(correct me wherever I am wrong)

It's a japanese home computer made by Microsoft and Sony in the middle 80ies. It supposedly had good multimedia capabilities (for its time). If it hadn't failed, Microsoft would be selling computers as well as OSes right now :-)

It was popular in Japan, not much of a success in Europe or the States.

It's not only one computer, it was a whole standard, various japanese companies produced MSX compatible home computers.

Didn't help tho *g*

I had an MSX, probably towards the end of the 80's. It was made by Sony, and was a lot like a commodore 64, only more modern. Mine also had an external 3.5" disk drive.

My dad bought it for me, with only one lousy game. The whole standard died, at least in Europe, so that's why I had to start programming.. =)

sdw: you first need to load msx-dos from rom or diskimage.

Msx was succesful in some european countries(netherlands), middle east... but unknown in usa.

here's a f.a.q. http://www.faq.msxnet.org/ for loads of information about msx.
