No annoying ML please.

Make a private forum if you really need that, so that people get to deal with it only when they have some time for it, without getting spammed every single day about platform separation issues and stuff like that.

three clicks in my e-mail client and i have a nice folder, which nobody forces me to open at any time i don't feel like it. but i can live with another solution too...

Havoc : my point is that it's much easier to follow a discussion with all the recent posts sorted on a page or even split in categories on a forum, instead of having to follow that through dozens of separated mails.

Moreover your client still has to receive all that garbage, even if you don't watch it.

Keops got a point, following a discussion is way easier on a forum like form.
But beside, having a mailing list to kinda keep us informed about the latest features and whatever would be nice.

i think it's better for me not to participate in this kind of discussion anymore.

reloaded :)

continued from here
I will write a program that checks the prods I have added now...bbl when its done checking.
What is the search criterium?
You know what to do, but have some remarks. I think it can be useful to have:
1. Production's platform,
2. Release's ID,
3. Groups' ID.

Ok, off to finish some pro stuff.

OK I now have all prods + prods-ids + groups + group-ids that got added by me to c64 platform from csdb. Thats basically all I am responsible for.

some stats so far:
132xx releases in 22xx groups
about 1095 groups newly added, rest have been present already. I will sort things out later more and give rating how good they match so that later someone with a bit knowledge can tell if e.g. a group that was present already is the same where the prod was added.

Of course if a group has only c64 prods added it gets a higher score, as well as a group where csdb prod-name matches a already added prod-name on same group.

Right now i cant think of anything more.

Hmmm. I can pick up the gauntlet in some cases, as I proposed.

BP, I was thinking about sth like that.

1. It would be GREAT to have somkinda html table generated for every crew (to have it opened in a tab by the side to the pouet ones), similar to pouet's group's display. With the same default display order (a-z I suppose).
2. Every generated table could have a radio (or a tick) button for checking the wrong prod. Or/and a "typer box", to write a new groups name (i.e. Prestige [C64] in the case of the Prestige group). Thus, not only we eliminate the wrong prod, but will know, which group it should belong to.
3. Option to save the result.

I know that's not too clear and easy, but it will help a lot. It is MUCH easier to "alt-tab" browsers between a real pouet release information and a generated one if they are similar...

Whadd'ya think?

OK, off from work...

BP: mail me your results, pls. Would like to have a glance at it.
My mail is on the very bottom of my www page (see my profile).

OFF!! ....I said.

please allow me to kindly suggest not to run any automated add/fix scripts without first getting permission from the ppl who actually have to deal with the resulting crap when it works less well than intended

@Birkin, don't worry I will not change anything. All I can provide is a suggestion of changes. The decision to actually make the changes has to be done by someone else. I just want to get rid of this once and for all.

@sim, sure I can make some gui app where people can decide what to do and generate a resulting suggestion-set. Just give me time to actually parse it together as I have to parse pouet html/rss since I have no access to the db of course. Oh and not to forget that rl is not to gentle with time right now.

Easy: just keep any of your scripts / automated stuff away from Pouet :)

Also, don't waste time parsing and analyzing Pouet's DB "to help us" anymore, the result will most likely be ignored by gloperators and admins.

The proper way to fix that mess is to spot and fix mistakes manually (that's what we've been doing ever since), with actual demoscene knowledge and relevant information, not with automated scripts.

pffff oh yea sure...so keep wining like "oh my so much things to clear up". All I wanted is giving a helping hand. And it wouldn't have been a script it but a table with score how accurate the data was with help for sim e.g. to fix things. So do it manually as you refuses to delete the stuff i have added you have to life with it!

Your arrogance is epic! Sort it manually then as you doesn't seem to have other things to do. Don't expect any help from me anymore. You can as well delete my account now, wasnÄt that all what you want?

We never asked or expected any, especially not this kind of "help", that's the point. Thank you for getting it, at last.

Please do not run scrapers / scripts / etc on Pouet without consulting an admin :(
added on the 2011-01-05 21:19:49 by Gargaj Gargaj
Gargaj & Keops: bp don't want to run ANY script anymore, he just wanted to use a script to make a PLAIN TEXT LIST with prod to move from false group to good group.

We chatted on our private ircnet channel, nobody want to disturb or give more problems to pouet.net and the admins, so if you don't want our help we will let you in peace :)

That's all! :D

Is there any automated way to "alt-tab" between a real pouet release information and a generated one on my local PC? Hum?
PLS (without quoting any person here), do not read what you want to read and what is not written.

I somekindda declared myself to check that case more or less MANUALLY (do you read me???) and asked for that "script" or "application" for personal check and help, instead of sayin "X, Y and Z are wrong". NO pouet hacks, inserts were supposed to be done.

Read my words in both BBSes, pls...

Anyway, BP, mail me what you got.

NB. You are doing everynite back-up, do not you? So you should not be so affraid of anything (It is just a digression =).

with all that said, i don't think a list of suggestions for improvements would be a bad idea an sich. the trouble is, gloperators will still want to have everything checked manually, which is kindof hard to do by ourselves for c64 prods because we don't have a lot of active gloperators with deep knowledge of that platform. so active support from knowledgeable c64 sceners is more than welcome- just not in the form of generated lists, because those are bound to be unreliable somehow, no matter how carefully constructed. please spend that time on checking stuff manually, and if you find any errors, post them and i will be happy to fix, time allowing. thanks!
