So.. what if we stop doing demos and just do cubes?

hyde: what if you raytrace pixel-sized cubes?

Hyde: Infinite amounts of randomly rotated infinitely small cubes will give the appearance of a smooth, continuous surface. The normals will be scattered, yes - but that only means that all specular light (as all light really are) will have the properties (and visual appearance) of diffuse lighting.

gargaj: you can never make a grid of axis aligned cubes look like a smooth surface and of course you all knew this so maybe we are thinking of different things. I am tired and today I hate cubes, but for a different reason :)

When I was 12, I used axis aligned cubes to represent a smooth surface

Some time ago paniq gave me some very early previews of a cube demo which might become the end of all cube demos. The project name was cube world and it has never seen the daylight.

Recently I noticed that his soundtrack "cubeworld" was released in 2003 and I realized I'm living in the past for allmost five years. :(
