Crhonoo Trigger is a good one. I have played it a couple of times. I think it's one of the best in that sub-genre of RPG's.

skrebbel: I would say that anime-rpg's and dungeon rpg's are two sub-genres of rpg's.

That's a question of settings and characters, frost. You can have first person realtime hack'n'slash dungeoncrawlers as well as well as top-down turnbased anime dungeoncrawlers, and they'll still be a dungeoncrawler. So making RPG subgenres is a little hard :)
Hey!

But that's an adventure game, not an RPG.

ah, now i remember - chrono trigger took so long, and it wasn't butt easy, which is what made me quit it in the end. anyone know a not too long and not too difficult rpg (old crap, preferably) that has a fun story? i mean, after all it's mostly about reading a fun book without noticing you're getting sleepy anyway, right?
(oh eh, i already finished dune 1. ten times. it matches the category)
