gloom: you should stop doing stuff for fun!! I thank that is the main problem here. No fun is the best way to do this.

I was thinking about buying an iPhone but I think it's hillarious that "the world's best phone" must be jailbreaked to do stuff you want with it. And since I'm not that keen on signing up for atleast 18 months as we must in sweden I did buy me a HTC Diamond yesterday instead.

That music program did look really nice so if they would make a Windows Mobile version of it I would be glad. :D

I don't see one good reason to get an Iphone as long as my "old" mobile phone is working... But well...

I think jailbreaking lost 90% of its purpose with the software update, most of the useful apps will be on the app store. I'll probably not bother when i upgrade to 2.0, the only things of interest will be the unix tools + compiler.. but really, what's the point on a phone unless you're trying to hack it or something? Hmm.. there's IRC too though. I bet there'll be an official irc app pretty soon though.

RRR: if you don't need all the functionality, you'd have a big toy with low battery life and a phone built in. Old nokias with black + white screens and batteries that last a month ftw! That and an old palm would have done me, if it weren't for the palm slowly falling apart and half of the screen not working. Even then it got me by for nearly a year :)

I don't get it. PDA phones do it for 10 years already.

Apple must have the best marketing team in the whole world.

xernobyl: it does less perhaps than the other smartphones, but it's the way it does it that apple got (mostly) right, not the marketing or the features. It's like the wii - technically it's a generation behind, but it's much more fun to use. I guess you have to use one for a while.

wtf?! It doesn't leave fingerprints, it leaves brown stains instead (otherwise, why do you need TWO fingerdoms?!)

Xernobyl: yeah, it's like the wii, white and shiny. That's why the wii is so popular right?

"yeah but eee pc is made by boring efficient chinese childlaborers, so it doesn't really lend you any credibility in the latte macchiato sipping community"

Yeah, because apple products is made in the good ol USofA by hardworking American patriots.
