Yeah i noticed i couldnt even install it on a pre sp2 xp machine, but its open source so the improvements will make their way to different platforms.

Mac and linux versions are supposedly just around the corner.

So you can run it in seamless mode in VBox

Doom: Don't apologize for being entertaining. With gems like these, you can last a lifetime:
but at least it doesn't use tabs.

You might want to try a new copy of Photoshop. Since version 3.0, there are tabs all over the place.

On topic: Damn, Chrome is fast.

JIT compiler ?

See, when you have to do interpretation, you have to look at the structure of your internal representation over and over again. So instead, V8 looks at the Javascript source code and generates MACHINE CODE that can run directly on the CPU that's running the browser. When you interpret once and compile machine code, then that code IS your representation of the Javascript source code and it doesn't need to be interpreted, it just RUNS!

They *may* want to reconsider their tabs implementation :)

Shifter: Photoshop uses tabs to hide the features you need, but it doesn't force you to use tabs to flip between documents. The former is annoying but somewhat configurable, the latter is good, and is what relates to the sentence "at least it doesn't use tabs". The clue here is that we were talking about the way in which browsers use tabs to organise multiple documents into a single window. I think with enough effort, even a funprod troll such as you could learn to grasp the concept of "context".

Oooh, I didn't realize that by arguing against tabs, you only meant the ones you can avoid using by being a luddite :D

Anyway, your idea of context doesn't work either. Using photoshop where you require tabs to flip through channels, paths and layers falls within the same bounds of using tabs in a browser to browser web pages. Unless of course, you're not actually going to use photoshop for what it is -in which case you'd just be better off using an image viewer. Feel free to relate that to whatever you need to make another point not worth making ;)

So now we have this sucking EULA and the strange I/O read stuff, nice.
Hmn, time to make a spy-free version, perhaps?

Tried it, but I never really concidered changing because FF3 is all I could ever dream of.
Shifter: Have you ever actually used Photoshop? You don't REQUIRE tabs to flip through channels, paths and layers. It's simply the default layout. And the fact that I use Photoshop does not imply that I like the way the UI is designed, anyway. At all. Can you understand that? Please try.

And even so, Photoshop uses tabs and such only to make more tools available than would otherwise fit on the screen, which is completely different from arranging DOCUMENTS in tabs, so that each document spans the entire document area of the app window. The former is a cheap (and bad) solution to the problem of having limited screen space, the latter duplicates the functionality of the task bar on a per-application basis, but without the consistency and user-friendliness you get from the "one window = one document" philosophy. That philosophy is also perfectly in tune with the ideas that Google promote about "web integration".

Maybe you'd understand it if I drew a comic for you?

You're obviously a Google fanboy if you do. Doom says so.

You don't REQUIRE tabs to flip through channels, paths and layers.

You also don't REQUIRE tabs to switch between web pages in Firefox, or tabbed browsers in general for that matter. This startling parallel doesn't seem to ring any bells with you?

Maybe you'd understand it if I drew a comic for you?

YES. Please do this! I would love to see how you illustrate your way out of this.

what's with the fucking google updater.. spyware!!11
Shifter: My way out of what? I wasn't the one who brought up Photoshop. I never said I liked tabs in Photoshop yet not in other apps. So what is it now, tabs are great because I don't have to use them? I'd like to draw you a comic but I'm afraid you lost me now. What exactly is the point you're trying to make?

I can't get over that copyright landgrab in the EULA. FF with noscript is fast, and has tabs. And it doesn't own everything you do.
Although I've been using gmail and not minding that they own the copyright to everything that goes through there. bleh.
