Gargaj: Well most of the time such utter morons just use some well described exploit to break through so maybe he wasn't all that wise in the end. Yeah... but you're probabbly right.

This seriously sucks. Why attack such a fantastic website?

I bloody hate script kiddies.
Then use an old backup of the old Nectarine, the one had a better layout (imo) and that worked on all browsers ;)

I'm sure most users will be more than happy to have the old usable Nectarine instead of no Nectarine at all :)

I'm totally OK with Keops. Even if the backup is old, it must be online !!!
How could i work without Nectarine ?!?

I'm really sad to hear this. I discovered so much (to me) new music there; and not just that, it spawned a community and now it's all lost. :'(

instead of just talking, we have to do something... even if Yes is not going to continue Nectarine, I will definitely try to resurrect it... Any help is appreciated :P
Nectarine has been the way for me to get in touch again with the demoscene community years after coding on Amstrad and Atari.
So nice people met there...
Feelin' very sad :(

I was actually planning a audio-only section on capped.tv, since a lot of people were watching videos just for the music. Might be nice to turn it into a full fledged website instead of just a small section..

audio-pouet would be appreciated. (willbe even had a cool name for it, i just dont remember.)

Ripping out the physical HD and recovering the files ought to be a very small deal (if Yes has access to the server, that is). I seriously doubt the scriptkiddie ran some randomizer re-overwrite script.

Oh, and this..
Quote:
I consider this not only a attack on a website or Yes but an attack on demoscene itself.

..is not very likely. Scriptkiddies uses search-tools to find vulnerable server setups, they don't target specially themed sites, unless they have a grudge of course.

sad + what keops said.

I always was curious about Nectarine. While other sites stream with low payments, YES always lamented on the high costs.
Allthough, using a Harddisk for a final backup wasn't much clever.
Additionally to mention that the "all killing hack" was done on the "save" Linux he used...
(LMAO)

I hate, totally hate all this hacking crap shit mania! I mean, how can be this cool or something?

Really saddening to say good-bye to nectarine.
Prolly was my first platform where I got in contact with the scene.
added on the 2008-09-09 23:26:21 by shock__ shock__
and to think that there is probably a scene for hackers just like the demoscene. Do they have annual meetings where they show off their hacking skills ?

anyway, rip nectarine, it was cool.

Optimus: do not mistake white/grey/black-hat hackers with such a pathetic crasher/anarchist who destroyed harmless scene data.

It's saddenning indeed! It's been my favorite radio station for years!
more than 50% of the music i listen to comes from there....

I'm 100% with you Saga and Keops, we've got to ressurect Nectarine. It's not a problem if the backup is old, and me too I did find the old site more friendly, or at least i got used to it ^^.

If I can help in any way, I will.

Navis: hacker != crasher

it's similar to virii : a virus has 2 main features, stealthy spreading and final load.
first one is the real skill, what the virus does as harm at the end is up to his creator and his ethics.
