grafx2 is back to life!

category: gfx [glöplog]
The OSX version is unfortunately in a pretty bad shape. It's mostly build system issues getting it to run on all versions.
The most recent build we have is http://grafx2.googlecode.com/issues/attachment?aid=-7718232552715382777&name =GRAFX2_2.2wip_experimental_build.zip, but I don't know if that will work for you.
Hello everyone,
As you may or may not know, we've recently added a new feature in GrafX2.2 : it's now possible to run lua scripts to generate things on the screen.
We would like to get some input on this feature, and we think a good way to do that is by providing sample scripts along with the program.

But this time it's up to you to submit scripts !

This contest follows our usual rules :
-Entry must be sent to this mailing list (grafx2@googlegroups.com)
-You have one month to send your script counting from today (that's until 17th of february)
-Then there will be a voting period to select the winners.

As usual there is nothing to win beside your name in the aboutbox of grafx2 and your script being included in the program.

Please relay this information if you can, so we get a lot of entries :)
Hello,
GrafX2.2 now available, featuring layers, lua scripting, and much more fun things.

awesome, will try it out now \o/
Hrm, doesn't seem to start. No errors, nothing.

Windodows Server 2003 SP2, x86_64
here's what stdout.txt shows:

Code:Error number 0 occured in file loadsave.c, line 669, function Load_image. Error number 0 occured in file loadsave.c, line 669, function Load_image. Unable to load the skin image (missing? not an image file?) Error number 1 occured in file main.c, line 665, function Init_program. Error: File containing the GUI graphics is missing! This program cannot run without this file.

I'm not sure which file it's talking about.
I copied the contents of the bin folder over the old 2.1 install, btw
Hi PulkoMandy,

First of all, thanks for all the hard work bringing Grafx2 back to life - and then upgrading it with new features. It's really a joy to use :)

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems the RGB scale feature isn't behaving as expected. I get to it by right clicking the PAL button, then for example set it to 8 (Atari STF palette goodness). But following this, when I open the palette requester, if I want to increase a R, G or B value from 0, the first click up, it still shows 0 (instead of 1, even though I can see the colour is getting lighter), then the next few clicks give 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and then the last one jumps straight from 5 to 7, which is the maximum value.

Not sure if I'm very clear. I can send you some screenshots if needed :)

Just to clarify, this isn't new to this version, I've had the same issue ever since the feature was implemented I think.

I can verify Exocets findings, I must have forgot to report it before.

ouchie, you shouldn't do that. The new tree is different, it has more subdirectories and grafx2.exe doesn't go at root.
If you have an old installation, uninstall it using Program Manager (if you used the automatic installer of 2.1 or 2.0) or delete the content of the directory.
Only keep gfx2.ini and gfx2.cfg if they are present, but normally they aren't there unless you've been using Grafx2 since very old version.
Then unpack the new archive, keeping subdirectories, and run the Grafx2.exe which is in "bin".
If you have shortcuts, you'll need to update them.

Palette bug fixed in r1406. Couldn't you tell us before we made a release ?
yrizoud: argh, stupid of me (:

*goes fix now*
I uploaded a Windows installer for 2.2. It will not cleanup a previous 2.1 installation, but at least it will make a working tree and a shortcut to the new executable :)

http://code.google.com/p/grafx2/downloads/detail?name=grafx2-2.2.1753-macosx.zip &can=2&q=label%3AOpSys-OSX

Thanks to hitchhikr who made it, and also to all the people that helped with getting it done. It's nearly feature identcal to GrafX2 2.3, which should be released really soon for other platforms. Please report success or failure with this version :)
will see if that OS X version works great on my Powerbook G4 12"
After 18 month of work, here is a new version for you !

PulkoMandy: can it perchance make deluxe paint ILBMs with colorcycling?
added on the 2012-10-03 18:12:19 by Gargaj Gargaj
Yes!
This can be reached from the "gradients settings" menu (you need to right click the "gradient rectangle" button).
It saves and loads them fine in IFF ILBM files, deluxe paint 4 compatible.
Is there a "play" button? I have to drag the "animation frame" slider manually.

Oh wait, that's the speed slider. I still have to keep the mouse button pressed on it to do stuff though.
added on the 2012-10-03 19:37:10 by Gargaj Gargaj
Yo uneed to click the "cycling" button to enable colorcycling, then put the speed slider all the way right for normal speed. Then, exit the dialog and the colors will start cycling.
Ah. See. The documentation wasn't entirely clear.
