Edge of Disgrace for all time Tops?

category: general [glöplog]

Should "Edge of Disgrace" by Booze Design be in the all time tops? It is about time to get a C64 demo in there.

it depends how the popularity of a prod. is calculated on pouet ;-)

There should be correction factor for C64 Demos according to the relative size of the scene :)

I recently learned that "popularity" is calced from, among other things, page clicks. So unless it surfaces on slashdot or something I would guess it never reaches the all time list. I'm against this rating system as it mostly reflects how many clicks each demo gets from outside the scene.

(I was doing a little research before pressing "Submit", and discovered that the only c64-prod on pouet with popularity > 10% was this one: http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=23272. wtf?!)

It won't. Even if it real is the best demo ever. Is it online anywhere? I can't find it at CSDB.

JSYK, this was posted on CSDb:

"There are some bugs in this version. HCL wants to bugfix these first.
We gave him time until next sunday. If there's no 100% version after next sunday, we will release the party-version.

To be honest, the partyversion is a 100% fap-fest already =)"

Fap fap fap ... :D

And yes I'm shitting my pants in anticipation too... I wonder what kind of demo was able to beat the Oxyron and Xenon entries :)

Hyde: Guess why this is so popular. ;)

Seriously, this is quite possibly the best c64 demo evar. It's polished beyond belief, the effects are nothing short of amazing and the GFX are fantastic to say the least...
The only "bad" thing about this demo was that demos like Xenon's, Oxyron's or even Instinct's, that would have won any democompo in the past say 8 years (with the exception of BP07 and Desert Dream maybe) hands down, did not win! <:-) It was one hell of a democompo and I actually had tears in my eyes after it...

The only thing i would not award this a 12 (only a 10! ;-) is maybe the music, which was great, but still is not in the league of Dutch Breeze (seriously: what is? What ever will be? <:-)

I normally don't comment on demos anymore, but I can't help myself this time. Edge of Disgrace tops everything I've ever seen on the Commodore 64. It's absolutely breathtaking and I wet myself numerous times during the bigscreen presentation. So much coder pron, so much fantastic graphics, so well polished. Fantastic work HCL/Dane/Jailbird! 10+

This is just too good to be released to the general public. Let's not share this highly polished gem. 15/10 pts. from me.

...
GIVE IT TO ME! I CAN'T STAND THE WAITING!

Just came back from X2008, and there sure is something to look forward to, even if it's only 10% as good as on the bigscreen when watching it in Vice. Finally it has become very easy to answer the question about what's the best C64 demo ever.

If that was to happen for every sub-scene, then Shitfaced Clowns would have 2 demos in the top-10 :P

I think this was probably the best party I've ever been to. The Democompo definately was the best c64 democompo ever in the history of c64, I'm rather goddamn sure about that...
I expected some great demos to be released, but I had no idea it would be THAT mindblowing! There were five killer-demos (Booze, Instinct+Hz, FLT, Xenon, Oxyron) and one really good one (Extend)...

I actually cried after the democompo, and while it was running I think the farmer's wife was just about to call dutch riot control because people just went fucking crazy and screamed like we had a torture gangbang going! ;-D I still have a sore throat (Reyn's great concert and Jeroen's DJ set prolly also had to do sth with that!)

After this compo, I think we might just as well sell all our 64s and be done with it, there's just nothing that can top this! <:-)

The only areas of improvement are maybe better food, way more stable powersupply (how many power outages were it in the end? like six?) and some information on when the organizers actually arrive themselves! ;-D

clearly the box should have a drop-down list, so you can chose to see which platform's Top-10 to view. PC clearly sucks, and the Amiga's Top-10 should be default...clearly.

and i think we're all clear on these points. obviously.

15 minutes demo? I liked the music so far... from the audio recording - minute 22 of SceneSat LIVE- X'2008 - Demo Compo.mp3.

Being there during the compo was completely stunning. True, the demo was 15 minutes, but still it felt too short.

At the very least it gets an award for being to most hyped and anticipated demo ever. Top 1 before anybody can even download it? wtf?

Dunno, the audio recording seems to suggest that the crowd loved pretty much all the top-4 demos equally. The bd demo was just a fair bit longer (10+ minutes, which is rare for any demo on any platform).
