I need to be fit. Any suggestions?

category: offtopic [glöplog]
I guess I have to work on willpower. But some say there is no such a thing as willpower.

Then what is an excuse?

Say that there is an already known step A to get B. And B is the best.
Why would anyone not chose A to get B? If it's obviously the best for him.

That's why I don't believe in words laziness, willpower and all that final accusations.

How would you define "willpower"? Freewill? Excuses? Laziness?
added on the 2015-01-19 11:00:16 by Optimus Optimus
Maybe discipline is a better word than willpower.

Motivation is the word that you are searching, Optimus.

Optimus, honestly, in the end nobody gives a shit what you do. People just try to be helpful and give you advice (for 14 pages now) shit that helped them or is proven to give results. There are multiple ways that lead to Rome, the world is not a binary computer.

If you choose to not do any of it that's fine, do what makes you happy. The world owes you nothing and you owe nothing to the world.

Don't go out kill people or rape women though, that's not cool.

What you wrote.

^ I'd think less of you if you took anything havoc or Garg said seriously tbh Opti. ;]
I'd follow okkie's advice about raping and killing tho....

Hammer, meet nail :)

I'll emphasize this with my own verbal ejaculate for effect: Optimus, when it comes down to it, in the end, virtually nobody here gives a fuck about you or your wellbeing. And all you've done in the midst of plenty healthy advice is whine and bitch and moan and wander off on irrelevant tangents such as half-hearted oneliners questioning the existence of willpower.

Hell, if only speedballs were so carefully balanced as your half-heartedness and self-pity we'd still have River Phoenix around. You are both a posterboy of and a shit stain on the epidemic known as obesity and a disgrace to those who do try and (eventually) improve.

So my final advice is twofold: read a few articles on the Art of Manliness and perhaps start making 2% of your decisions based on "what would a real man do" and secondly: someone close this fucking thread already?

While we are being blunt assholes (or is it the elephant in the room?): He might have mental health issues, before anything else.

I know it was a mistake to write here so much. I am sorry about that. There are other self-help forums out there.

I think now my problem is not that of weight loss or fitness. I do this because I feel low self-esteem if I fail to loose weight, but my primal instincts tell me to just eat and preserve energy. I am mad because I failed. I have other self-esteem issues to solve.

So what? He asked how to get fit, the answer is put in the work. The validity of that answer or it's derivatives is not affected in any way by a person's mental health status.

Why this obsession with manliness?
Why do you separate between obese who make it and those who are worthless?
You are literally telling me I am worthless in one sense. Who defines who is worthless?

I make this mistake. I click back here, don't know why. I know all the stuff I have to do, no need to click anymore. But I know I will read things that will make me depressed. Why do I click?

I should really disappear. I am making the same mistake.
Words hurt. But I sort of need to answer to them. You understand?
I should disappear from here. I shall be the one to disappear.

Meanwhile the same thing happens inside me. What people call excuse. At the end weight loss doesn't matter. It's another thing that bothers me. But maybe that's my nature.

What one calls excuse or worthlessness is a dead end.

dude, some honest advice, go talk to a psychologist! You are clearly dealing with something bigger and you won't figure it out by asking strangers on the internet.

wow this has gone a bit dark.

getting out and exercising is great for your health, and emotional confidence/well being. to me, that is far more important that a number measuring how much you weigh. do it for yourself.

comfort eating is a toughie. its just down to discipline, and is a vicious cycle. doing exercise helps you with some discipline food wise as you don't want to be sabotaging that. start small and build up.

doing stuff makes you feel good. feeling good, makes you eat less. be happy. ignore the haters.

No, you made it seem to matter by starting a 14-page thread about it. Another person's weight is none of my business.

Plus: Okkie's advice, though I think by now we've established that taking heed of advice is somewhat of an issue for you.

Optimus at the end of the day you come off as an attentionwhore. You are not genuinely looking for solutions, you in it for the attention. Read these 14 pages over as many times as you need to, pick one of the suggested solutions and stick with it. Stop wallowing in your own self pity and do something, anything. Descipline means submitting to do something also on the days where you dont feel like it. TBH self pity is the one thing I loathe more than brussels sprouts and quite frankly, fuck brussels sprouts.

I'm just immensely sad that my brilliant River Phoenix joke fell to pieces. There goes a career in stand-up, maybe I'll start a thread about the immense sensation of loss.

I did like the sardonic River Phoenix reference :)
