What takes you away from the scene?

category: general [glöplog]
So, what is the reason for *you* to decrease your scene activity? Why drop demomaking and demowatching, following the news, visiting the parties? What is wrong?

in my case: nothing is wrong, reallife just grows.
irc. I spend WAY too much time on irc. WAY too much time.

work + better things to do

some people snap out of it after some years, some don't.

i once passed that stage of beeing off-scene .. i started to focus on releasing stuff outside the scene, so i had the feeling i don't have any time to contribute anything anymore, plus the big break was one my good old dos-machine and my old soundcard died and i couldn't use anything anymore.
but during that time i was still watching demos and had contact with the people, just i wasn't doing anything. =)

good thing i'm back, and may it be mainly on the c64 now. that year and the few months beeing inactive was way too much. =)

in my case: Music, drugs, girls, alcohol, drugs, ... erm, and more drugs :P
And sleeping in my bed too much time, my body need a recovery of energy :). In the other hand, work + work + work + drugs + work :P

In my case, a few different things put me off scene for while in the past. There was a time when prods were getting bigger, and my phone bill was going up because of that, so I cut down. Also, other interests (eg. playing some games too much and forgetting about scene :) Real life too of course. But not drugs at least :) There are few things better than watching demos after taking drugs ;)

3D-flyby demos.

Yes, not specifically 3d-flyby demos, but I'm sure I stopped watching demos at one point cause I spent loads of time and money downloading demos, and they were pretty much all shit. Shouldn't be such a problem nowadays as there are sites like this and you can see what others think of it before you waste your precious time :) Unless poeple are still going to scene.org and downloading random demos ;)

scene is real life, part of it.

otherwise - grrrrl(s), streets, cops, parties, tripping, infiltration, graffiti, muzik.. and then again, all of this is part of scene (real life;D)

Schoolwork (I intend to do well this semester), and the fact I can't code anything graphical, or make anything musical that doesn't sound 1987-ish, or draw.

The fact that after returning back from Germanz, Iäll have to take care of mz studies so that I finish as soon as possible, get a job and become economicallz independent from mz parents. Also, five zears and beeing an unsuccesfull scener who spread laugh for 5 zears is enough. Iäll have to make a pause and take care of mz real life. Also, at the beginning of 2005, the greek armz might call me, except if I can extend it, but Iäd prefer to finish with the armz sooner perhaps..

my studies, definitely. my studies.
a 40 hour learning and working week DOES take your creativity.
