irc ist tot! - nietzschplitt
When someone said all those channels are on IRCnet, but not EFnet, that is nonsense. Most the general channels mentioned started on EFnet before IRCnet split off, and many, such as #coders, #demoscene, #scene, #trax are still also on EFnet, though it does not have #pixel, but EFnet also has #SCENEART (I do not know how new it is, and it seems inactive). Many of these have been larger on EFnet lately. The original #trax actually broke off from EFnet and went to irc.scene.org, which now redirects to ChatJunkies, but of course, others are in #trax in EFnet and IRCnet. I would not really call #coders, #demoscene, #pixel, #scene, #trax anywhere 'dead'. Most were sporadically active well into the 2000s; some at least had the ops paying attention and keeping everyone opped who should be, and most still have occasional activity. I also know of several other tracking channels such as #ocp (for Open Cubic Player), #modplug (for Modplug Tracker), #milkytracker, #nectarine (for scenemusic.net), #modarchive (for modarchive.org)... if there are other demoscene art or coding channels (except for groups), I would like to know... I know there are is of course #art, but I do not know about other pixelling or 3D demoscene art, or coding channels.

#modplug, #milkytracker, #nectarine and #modarchive are on EsperNet, not EFNet. I'm not usually on EFNet but I'd say that it's realistic that #revision on IRCNet is simply the biggest active pure scene channel right now.
#ukscene ircnet can be active at times..

funnily i just starting re-lurking after a little accidental break from my remote box rebooting

#buzz is still going on efnet for the jeskola buzz tracker too. more active than #scenesat most of the time, but less active sceners.
baguetteception occured at page 2.

my favourites are...
#ukscene
#revision
#breakpoint
#evoke (should be THE chan to visit these days!)

...not that i´d still be active in IRC ;) being that troll at pouet should be enuff for everyone ;)
except that #evoke moved to #evoke.eu (IRCnet).

i said so, i´m not active anymore!
thanx for clarifying! :)
I never said the EsperNet channels were on EFnet but probably should have said where they are... and FYI, #ocp is on freenode.

Well, from the context of your IRCNet vs EFNet debate, it sure sounded like you were referring to active channels on EFNet.
Usual party is in #scenesat on EFNet, especially when a party stream is going on.

Musicians that track with Excel should visit #modulez on Esper, especially on saturday nights for the one hour compo :)

Also if you have a three letter nick on IRC, why not join #3ln on IRCNet?

I was very active on IRC in the years 1997 - 2001. In those days most demoscene channels were on IRCnet. EFnet was mostly used by Americans or tracker musicians. The best channels on IRCnet were #coders and #pixel.

if you want to meet "special" people, just try the groupnames in IRCnet, as in #deadromans or #sanity ;) (no real channels where harmed, blah! ...i hope there ain´t no chans named like that at all, but there are for active groups for sure, just dont want to put real names here!)

joining random channels is fun anyway, just troll em to death until you get kickbanned ;) (then rejoin a day later with different nick and do it again!)
funny hobby that!
irc is dead. use whatsapp or facebook messenger like most of us do.
don´t listen to that pouet-account-manager at all!
all he knows is how to distribute new numbers for new tickets (as in ticket=YOU!, if you try to delete yourself!)

whatsapp is for realLifers and Facebook messenger is only to fuck your nerves with its sound/buzz :(

DELETE ME ALREADY! i always wanted to get deleted, no, i wanted to delete myself all of the time, so dont delete me please, i´d like to have a customer number, tho ;) what about #1337, already taken?
no feces use or whats this shit app.

but yeah try #groupname .. :)

I quit IRC in 2000 because it was becoming an addiction. Now that I'm going to Revision this year with a prod, I'd like to hang out again. What's a good channel to lurk in, especially if I want to ask a few euro party questions?
