Also, every demogroup needs a facebook and twitter page, along with reminders in each demo to like and follow them. It wouldn't hurt to have your own iPad, iPhone, and Android apps, either.

we need kkrieger final so slashdot people notice the demoscene again. therefore it's all farbrausch's fault that computer hipsters don't give a shit about the demoscene whatsoever!!!1111
to all the people wailing about making prods (and to myself as well), it hasn't been better put than

"How you gonna do it you really won't take a chance?"

: D
I've written a follow-up to the initial post with numbers from 2012, for those who are interested.

yay statistics saved the demoscene!
gloom: it'd be interesting if you took the 'total prods' chart back before 1991 (when it was presumably in the growth phase), then added prods from all the scenes similar to ours (code + graphics based perhaps). I bet the early growth would continue on that chart :)

Please go and do that, i'm sure it's no hassle ;D

Nice unconditional analysis, gloom. Gross data as you present them actually speak for themselves. It could be nice to calculate the percentage change in the #prods from 2011 in a cross-table platform X category.

blog.subsquare.com/state-of-the-demoscene-1991-2014/ - let the somewhat annual "But these C64 numbers are wrong!!"-debate begin :) (yes, I know that using Pouet isn't accurate for C64 prods, but there's not a lot I can do about that as long as C64 prods aren't added here, sorry).

Anyway, interesting stats again! Added a news item on Demoscene Research, too.

Amiga is back, in a big way! If this trend continues, the Amiga might, for the first time in history, overtake the C64 as the second most popular demoscene platform (after Windows).

Good point! :)
