The way this thread is turning out is kinda how I imagine local government got started.
Everywhere.

However, where this could work is in the prod comments - I'd love to heart comments :)

If there is only the possibility to like them it's okay.

But I think a feature much more important would be to comment without giving any rating at all. If you want to comment on somethng and it is your own prod, you have to give a rating as well. And because you will be burned like a witch if you thumb up your own prod, you have to give a piggie, which impair average rating.

With regards to that - I'd like the possibility to just comment - without adding any sort of vote whatsover (even piggie), because right now, you're sort of losing average votes if you comment on your own prod. Not a biggie, but it's a pet peeve.

I think the correct answer to that problem is to stop giving a fuck about people who hate on selfvoters.

Why the hell does anyone care?

gloom: I guess one problem with adding such a feature after-the-fact, is that all prods added before that feature was added either gets a disadvantage vote-vise or an indeterminate amount of piggies.

Only one oink is counted, if you selfvoted in prior not even one oink will be counted from you :)

@Gloom: Did you just repeat what I wrote? Or am I missing something here?

Don't know as well. There was this one person thumping down prods because of selfvoting by the creators. And they were new to pouet. Just sick.

@Gaspode: I don't know. What did I write that was the same as what you wrote? I can't seem to find it by browsing a few pages back at least.

gloom: his post right above yours? And I thought you wrote pretty much the exact same thing too, you might want to rephrase it if it was supposed to be different :D

Seems wh’re on the same side here. :)

You guys do know you can't buy something for that rating, right? OMG INTERNETPOINTS!

On that matter, I rather have a downvote explaining why a prod sucks, than an upvote with "nice!".
added on the 2013-05-14 12:28:25 by mog mog
that's why I often just want to vote without a comment

and no I don't feel like explaining why I believe blue is better than red
on the other hand its still a lot better to upvote with a "nice" than to not comment at all because "you dont have time/motivation to give a whole lot of feedback at the moment" and forget about it later...

If the criticism is constructive I'm with you, but not if it is »cherriesque™«.

But then again I only want to have »likes« like at vimeo. Because kindness wins! You can comment if you don't like the prod but you don't have to give a dislike. But I think this is an idle wish here at pouet.

Comments are better than votes.

And far more important.

Minimum comment length :)? No glöpz from just voting?

wysiwtf: sure.

gaspode: I have no problem with cherrie, he at least states why he dislikes a prod - and all of us have different tastes - if you don't like UNZ UNZ you might want to downvote because you hate to music so much - that's fine with me. And if you don't like black backgrounds, sure I take that downvote like a man (and then cry myself into sleep) :)

noby: don't bind voting to leaving a comment at all - yt'ish?
