- Nice one. Slightly boring, I was never a fan of the static 2D image with random text/frames and a rotating 3D abstract thing on top, and the music is too low energy for me, but perfectly watchable.
Ramon's repack was broken for me. It worked on an emulator, but wouldn't burn correctly with cdrdao to run on a real playstation. The music started playing but it was stuck on a broken SONY screen.
In case anyone else is confused by how to burn this, I had to get the ISO archive (pawlow_i.zip), convert the mp3 to wav (ffmpeg -i track02.mp3 pawlov.wav), make my own CUE file:
Code:FILE "pawlov.iso" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE2/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "pawlov.wav" WAVE TRACK 02 AUDIO INDEX 00 00:00:00 INDEX 01 00:02:00
and then burn it with "cdrdao write pawlov.cue", to end up with a disc that worked on my playstation. - isokadded on the 2024-03-02 14:30:06
- demo MS-Dos Windows MS-Dos/gus emergency by Disaster Area [web]
- Love it. Very nice demo. Beyond the effects the art and the music which are all great, I love the theme and how it all ties together. Beautifully done.
I don't get the hangup about the scrolling. I think it fits the aesthetic very well. And I'm not at all sure how adding pre-blurred in-betweens would improve it.
Quote:I expected this on a DX2-66 :p
You're not far off. After the pentium, I tried it on my 486 DX/2 80 with a GUS and it's not perfect, but it runs fine for the most part. A couple of parts are a bit slow, but not annoyingly so. - rulezadded on the 2023-12-03 07:54:51
- demo Linux Eternal by The Lab [web]
- After 19 years I decided to capture a video of this demo, which most people have never seen after the party, due to it being GNU/Linux exclusive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD7SR9u_EAQ
I also uploaded the source code to github, after I did a few fixes to let it build on 64bit GNU/Linux: https://github.com/TheLabDemos/eternal - isokadded on the 2023-09-03 04:47:18

- Awesome demo! The scrolling dots and the torus mapping blew my mind.
And I love that it loads up all at once (in a single 11min run), instead of stopping every 10 seconds asking to load some more.
No idea why some people complain about the music. I liked it a lot. - rulezadded on the 2023-04-15 05:16:11

- Looks nice, and thumb up for not using a 3rd party canned engine... the GPU requirements are unfortunate, but whatever, people will be able to run it sometime in the next decade, and it will still look nice I think...
But 1gb filesize is absurd. I don't remember when we lost the reasonable filesize limits for demos, but we need them back urgently. If you can pre-render your demo and ship a player with a video file, and end up with a lower filesize without perceptible loss of quality, there's something seriously wrong. I know it's not what this is, but come on...
I propose 150mb size limit for demo compos. It should be more than enough. - isokadded on the 2023-04-11 01:42:25

- Nevermind about the reported hang, with emm386 off, it works on the P166mmx too. Must have been something unrelated last time.

- demo MS-Dos Windows Aeon Drift by Disaster Area [web]
- Very nice! Classic late 90s DOS style. Nicely done.
Hanged on my P166mmx/s3virge, worked on my P3/gf2mx, but only with emm386 off. Otherwise it crashed with a page fault in both computers.
Strange, the address of the page fault in CR2 is 12345678 hex... Reported EIP is 31837h if it helps. - rulezadded on the 2022-12-11 00:10:47
