This is the way it should have been from the start. "World War II memoirs",
which finished 2nd in the Wild Demo competition at Assembly'2001, is
improved by a 'special edition' which is now here in DivX format.

politics in demoscene simply sucks
sucks added on the 2002-01-17 00:12:25 by Hatikvah Hatikvah
Politics is part of life, and so is the scene. Just because someone happens to have an opinion that is political doesn't make it any different from any other opinion. If you don't like it, leave it alone.
I'm DLing it now, will vote later (darn modem).

judgementalism in demoscene simply sucks
Very good. Almost like a documentary, but more emotional.

Thank you LaserBeams for the comments, and I agree with you, but I don't think Stefan actually wanted to do anything more than just talk negatively about my work. If you go check his comments in the video's original version's page here at Pouet(http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=3374), you'll know what I mean.. and to Stefan, since your email is/was out of order (at the time I tried replying you), you should read my reply to what you wrote at the same the page. I always thank each and everyone who sends me comments (good or bad), but those few who are purely there trying desperately to insult you (or your work), I can only wonder what has happened to them in order to make them bahave like that. Still I wish all the best to each and everyone one you, and thanks again!

..ah, and I almost forgot to address Stefan's "politics in demoscene.." comment. If you experience there are politics in my video, I'd like to know more what you mean, since I don't see or tried putting there any. If simply expressing the madness of killing millions of people is politics in your opinion, then let it be, cause to me it's purely logical and sane. I'm sure if you were a jew, you'd think otherwise.. I don't have to be one or to experience war to realize it's not good for anyone, there are no winners, and even the past generations have to carry these painfull memories of what humankind was in capable of doing.. and I for one do it gladly, that's what my WW2 memoirs is all about.

I wonder why a specialedition was made. I mean, the first version was some what okayish, but this is like watching the extended-version of the local news on tv.
I had heard the soundtrack several time before, just download the video today, it was interesting to see how it fits in the main theme. It's something diferrent than what we use to see from wildemos, a slideshow of horrible war crimes commited in a period of history I wasn't even born, accompanied with the music theme it touched me. And as I admire the music work of acumen from the modules I heard from Hugi and the others got from his page, I had a desire to thumb up! :)

"Jede Generation braucht ihren Krieg" - Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf.

I'm still not shure wheter he will stay right - It's no secret that some governements use every possible way to present a "need" for war to their people.

So I think it's needed to remember everybody of the big mistakes of history, so they're newer redone again.

Sorry, but I don't actually get the point on that patriotism entry by reed. Could someone explain me what he wanted to say?

BTW: If you thought my post was patriotic, you were wrong. I am neither german nor do I ever would get ridicoulous on this subject.

i dont like politic in demos, but this time i agree with the end of this wild.

reed is simply a teenager, he will understand when he will be more old.

technically, the visuals looks professional, lots of good transitions like infinite unzoom, color blurs and others. the gfxs are only photos, i expected some drawed things.

the whole prod is perhaps too long, and the message effect is deleted by that. (i speak about the crescendo: bad, good, heroes are just deadmens...)

music is very good, and it deserve a thumb up.

your fucking mind is gone!!!
you just pick pictures and put your (real) name on it ? and you're pretending this is useful "to remember" ? fuck!
yes i'll remember this as an example of trying to get some fame with dead people.
I mean i could have liked something on this topic if only this had been done correctly... with just a little bit of... interest for the subject ? truely, this wild makes me sick...
- hopefully there are many good books and movies which make people remember this, we'll just have to read/watch these instead of this crap.

prater (not only): there are even big such mistakes nowadays, but noone will recognize them until they're over and everyone is complaining and "remembering" it as if noone were involved.
thumbs up for guantanamo bay, 30years durating civil war in africa, U.S. for supporting taliban til they weren't in need of them anymore, U.S. for blocking aids medicaments for brazil because of economy interests but sueing bayer for lower prices when they had anthrax,...
this list could be continued till pouet db is full for nearly all big or influential countries. noone bothers with that.

Not worth all the fuzz... just 'war is bad, boo-hoo.. why can't we all live in peace?. can't anyone stop the madness?' cliches that sound mostly like 15 year old depressed teenagers... The subject has been gone through so many times w. much better implementation/impact/message that they make this production feel just, well, lame in comparison.

The editing and sychs are mostly ok but the music, although technically ok, is rather terrible.

Still, its better to have this kind of stuff in wild compos than your average 'hey, i borrowed a video camera... asm is in a week... I know guys: lets make an action movie like tha matrix but with some really funny lines and lets use ketchup for blood... Or even better: lets put the cam on top of a shelf and let it record our activities while we're preparing for asm. (gaming, stuffing pizza in our fat faces, drinking cola, gaming, gaming, watching a bad quality divx of the matrix on a 19in. monitor, gaming, sleeping, gaming). Then we can fast forward it and make a 15 minute movie out of it! ain't I great or what?!'

pigpen: Tanks for your statement. You wrote exactly what I was thinking. It's extremelly difficult to politically correctly express himself about the happenings since last september. I suppose many readers here are americans, and they may have a different view of the toppic as in europe.

If it's true that reed and/or acumen have no Idea of what they're talking about... - No I cannot finish that sentence, it's unbelievable for me to just USE the happenings from wwII as plain input, without any background.

A great wild. Really was different from any other wild in Assembly2001. Special Edition was better, cause it was even more serious.

Last night I saw a documentary on swedish television called something like "The war in color", and it was a documentary containing color-film from ww2. Before I saw it, ww2 seemed so remote, only having seen it in black-and-white pics, but seeing this tv-program I thought to my self, "my god, this could have been today", the only difference was there unmodern clothes... So my point beeing: ANYTHING that reminds us of the horors beeing commited during ww2 is a waste of TIME, even if it is, according to some, a poorly made wild-compo.... And we must remind ourselfs all the time, despite that people say: "we'll never forget", because we will if we don't keep it fresh in our memories......
Annars så är jag en ganska oseriös kille =)

Usa sux, I could nuke it with my balls,
it's not like it makes any difference if you remember what happent during ww2 anyways, and it surely doesnt matter to USA , just look at their current war philosophy =)

so conclusion is that this demo is acctually, just, a waste of time
