Mhhmm, seems that most vic 20 stuff is not working with Vice (due to incomplete vic chip emulation?). Pfau Zeh seem to do the job though... Any other (better...) emulator for this platform available?

I had the similar problems with Vice, but someone told me the solution and now everything is running very well in Vice. Go to the options and disable the memory expansion of Vic (I think it is there where it says "Vic Options") and then the Prg images will boot fine!
All these intros I added, are coded especially for the unexpandable Vic and that's why they are so small. As I remember Vic20 without expansion ram, has 5kb ram and 3,5kb of it is used for code!
