This is an insult to all my senses, but because I have no knowledge of anything related to Series 40, I won't thumb it down. Perhaps it's the Second Reality of S40..

even if this WAS the second reality of S40 technically speaking, it is still one of the most boring, pointless, least impressive things i've ever seen.

The image-scroll extraordinaire of the century! Pretty ugly intro right there ;)

Looks like a crappy demoplatform, thumbs up for making anything on it.

I guess most of you guys have no idea of how lame a cpu there actually is in the series 40 mobile phones from nokia. the series 40 mobile phones are the cheap color screen phones you can pickup from around 1DKK upto 200DKK in Denmark.

The "effects" where put to gether in a day or two and the "music" was made in 5-10 minutes.
oooooh man that was a lame demo..

"I guess most of you guys have no idea of how lame a cpu there actually is in the series 40 mobile phones from nokia."

please get a clue.

ps. atleast in ran smoothly on my 7600 and no, it most certainly does not have a lame cpu ;-)

there ARE other series 40 mobile phones than the 7600, please check your references before bitching. the 7600 phone is a rather new phone compared to the phones that are listed in the .nfo file (f.x. 3100, 6100 and those are not a gamer-phone like 7600).
rasmus: you were generalizing, i was not.

The point is that not all series 40 phones are slow (unlike what you implied at first).

Incredibly uimpressive. Some effects were average, but it was overall a bad experience.

Do one more.

You should have run this on my 6230 instead, but still, too little action, but still, activity from macaw, a little respect at least for not being dead after getting married, actually, you are more active now than before :D

Many harsh comments here, but it isn't all that easy to do cool demoeffects on a slow phone running even slower J2ME. I checked the source code, and it seems atleast like Nokia provides SOME more functionality compared to straight Midp1.0. I've been coding on a demo that uses only standard Midp1.0, and it sure isn't easy getting anything done. No direct framebuffer access etc.

Well. When you cannot get enough speed, go for good design. If there was some nice overlays or a general story/design in the demo, then it would be hella funky.
/me compares this to the orange gba entry at tmd :)
okay for a not too serious alternative platform demo.
thumbs up for being active after marriage

Props for making a J2ME demo. However, we did pretty much the same (and a bit more!) three years ago with Perkele plus.
While I'm here, I do have to say that I hope to see more mobile demos in the future. It really IS possible to do cool stuff, both with MIDP 1 and 2, and now with Mascot Capsule and Java Micro 3D. Here's to the future!

You should have used DirectGraphics and made some real effects =)

as written in the NFO - this crap is written for low-end nokias.
I've done tunnel effects and some 3d in these phones. It is possible.

looks somewhat weird in a higher resolution but i think it's ok.
stars radially spread from a center,
dolphins picture,
little music,
sine vertical bars,
concentric circles moving around
