The first demo I saw. In the late and rainy day of fall 1989. Very simple from the point of today's view. We may conclude that Magnus had a B&W monitor since the character set's colour is very randomized =).

GR.8 over GR.15 ? HOW?!

First part) The emulator-screenshot is broken. on the real Atari, the space pic is displayed correctly. Somehow Magnus managed to multiplex pmg's and cover the complete background. usually you would only fill 5*8 = 40 px ! just like a 1/3 of the screen. amazing stuff!!!

Second Part) might look not so exciting. !!BUT!! I think Magnus was one of the first guys who did a high resolution 1px fine scroller on the 8bit Atari. It's nothing unusual for the C64... but the Atari supports by hardware only 2px finescrolling for high resolution video modes. The trick is to use two shifted char modes and then combine it with the hardware fine scrolling.. crazy stuff for it's time!!! really, really impressive...

twh...dont get fooled too much... look at the display list...he only covered the stars in the scroller area with PMGs...so not the whole background... below the scroller its standard antic e... ;)
I saw this. but where's the difference? i mean I can't see a repetitive pattern in the upper part of the picture. I once tried to multiplex players my own and I only could multiplex (repositioning and setting new pm-data) within the dli by at most 7 players.

mhmhm :)
