Underground Conference 9

category: parties [glöplog]
We've now announced the full line-up of compos. Check them out here:

We've now also added details about the two brand new, absolutely insane and life-threatening compos:

Seaworld Graphics
BB Image

Offroad live shader coding compo
BB Image

We are putting a gigantic amount of time, money and love into those two, so please go check them out.

In case you haven't registered by now, now is the time. We've reached the mark of 70 registered visitors, but would be more than happy to see a couple more sceners who happen to enjoy bizarre and insane fun. So in case he doesn't suck: tell your friend.

In case you are already registered: There is now an option to select which compos you are planning to take part. While we would like you to fill all that apply, it is especially important for our planning to know on how many people are going to participate
on the Seaworld Graphics and Offroad live shader coding competitions.

The great thing here is that even if you don't have classical demoscene skills, this is something where you may shine - are you good at super soaker shooting? Are you able to paddle? Or are you a good offroad driver? Then sign up now for those compos!

Once again:

We still have open slots for taking part in the Offroad Live Shader Coding competition. If you are a shader coder, come to UC9 and take part in the most insane version of that compo ever.

The tool used for the compo is Bonzomatic. If you want to practice
in beforehand the compo, go get it here:

Keep in mind - even if you are a beginner-level coder, simply by teaming up with a good driver found at the party you could still be a winner!

Here are the compo rules again:

For the Seaworld Graphics compo we also need more gfx artists to register. Filling up your team with people shooting and paddling will be easy on site, but we need more people who can actually DRAW:

If you are already registered for UC9, please login into your account and update your data. There is now an option to select which compos you are planning to take part

Login here:

In case you have forgotten your password by now:

If you are not yet registered for the party, now is the time to apply:

After some hesitation I signed up for the shader compo. I've not that much experience with it, but I know the basics (see https://youtu.be/eJjaSgt0xCg?t=145 for an idea of my most "complicated" shader). I hope that I can find a good driver :-) Now I have to do some practice with Bonzomatic...

If only I had the time to go... (I wouldn't be able to anyways since it would probably get everyone arrested.)

oemfoe: That's the spirit.

I think there will be more people available who (wrongly) believe they will be able to master the driving part than people who (wrongly) believe they'll be able to master the coding :)

Hah, the way I wrote it, it sounds like a new shading algorithm

Optimus: Well, then probably a good solution would be to join the party ;)

Well i sadly cant make it due to vacation days and financial problems, so you have +1 free slot.
Having that said the location and compo lineup really sounds amazing, im sure every survivor of the party will have stories to tell!

Oh this clashes with Nova party...

I thought organisers were supposed to be courteous of not putting on events on dates that clashed.

megmeg: There's not enough weekends (or too many demoparties, whichever you prefer) in the year to avoid clashes. :/
added on the 2019-06-12 15:18:58 by havoc havoc
megmeg: Yes, I did make sure there are no clashes. Back when I registered the date with demoparty.net last year, Nova Party wasn't announced yet. It's a pity :(

Very nice and very unfortunate that I have no capacity to join this year... :/

scamp: It's unfortunate and completely unintentional - the hall runs out of dates very quickly so we have to book well in advance. I hope everything goes well with UC9!

I knew you would say that, and actually I want to. It's just that I've never been really good at it. :D But let's see.

kb_, make "not being good about it" a feature. grab a cello or bassoon or sth you can't play and be a one take wonder.
added on the 2019-06-13 15:12:56 by jco jco
We both know that it's more of an art than that but let's see. :D
