GamePark GP32 was released in Europe today

category: general [glöplog]
Jepp, mp3 playback usually needs the all the CPU power, but since the GP32 can be safely overclocked from 40 to about 150-180, perhaps it's possible. Currently, most games/demos use tracked formats like XM.

dixan, no mp3s in gp32 games... for the cpu-hungry arcade game i did just a multichannel mods (8ch ifair), and an xm for the stupid puzzle. =)

Cool... I have to clean some rust away from my MOD/XM proficiency in order to start some GP32 demoing then :)

it's still too expensive and there's too less good reasons for me to get one. =)

Okay, now here it is: Since yesterday Lik-Sang has the cheapest offer for a GP32 BLU (!) worldwide. Only 149 Euros incl. a coffeemug (?):

Who on earth needs a crappy handheld which only 0.005 people worldwide own, if you can code on a machine with equal horsepower and lots of coding support available. - Think mobile, thing MIDP2. Virtually anyone owning a Java-enabled mobile can see your stuff.

See http://www.sonyericsson.com/k700i for examle.

Who on earth needs a crappy demoscene which only 0.005 people worldwide know, if you can code a commercial first person shooter with newest equipment and lots of hype support available. - Think commercial, think first person shooter games. Virtually anyone owning a PC can see your stuff.

I better buy myself a GP32 soon, I've been delaying until the BLU was released, and now I just need the cash.
Hopefully there will be more demos for it soon :)

Who cares about the GP32 anyway, get a Nintendo DS!

Trace: you got one? We should bring them to the next UKscene meetup (:

And who cares about a Nintendo DS, it's just got a bigger spacebar and it's not like anyone's used them for skipping parts on demos lately anyway.

Oh yeah ravity, the DS is great, it does have... a... err... free development kit as well as the GP32... for everyone. Yeah. And an established scene with thousands of productions... and... it's open source and stuff. And Nintendo doesn't sue you for using their libraries. Yeah. And the DS is sooo well documentated, concerning how to develop on it. *nods*

The ones with the biggest budget wins. Means, the PSP.

But also the PS2 won the console war, but who gives a fuck? It counts what your heart says.
