i been to two russian parties.

Enlight'97
Chaos Constructions'000

i liked them both in a way, russian parties are really special. i also drink vodka only there ;)

E97 is one of my fav parties ever. it was cancelled because of visitors mad action (which werent that excessive, maybe even more calm than at european parties) and we moved over to park nearby. here the thing happened! ~100 boozing sceners all around and lot of fun including milicya and maybe also some other uniform-men which arrived and arrested all of us, searched etc.. we got away easy because of foreign passports tho' ;)

however, there are few drawbacks.. like these parties are not 24h, mostly organized in some school and entries ain't of much interest (except E97 - speccy part just ruled!)

i wish i finally could attend one... but i can't go into russia without them taking me to military service, as i still got my russian citizenship.

and yes, i have to agree with raver, it is really confusing that russian parties are not 24h. western parties are 24h booze&smoke orgies, while russian parties seem more like official computer competitions or smth, at least according to party reports... well nho wonder, if russian organizers let their parties get sponsored by state organs..:P

Somehow attending a party in Russia seems to have quite a number of drawbacks: lots of hassle with visas, currency, being a tourist in Russia and most important of all: not all of us are willing to travel all the bloody way to Russia for a short party.

Mailing your entry is an option though, but that's not the real thing to do.

Dunno. I think that a lot of people from Europe are afraid of Russia. Hey, Russia is not bad country. We are living in Capitalism for 11 years :) And I see a lot of foreign tourists on the streets everyday. They looks happy :) And Russian parties become much better. MindResorces2001 was great. It was 24h. But Paradox2002 will much greater I think. Now it's main russian party. I think almost all russian (and not only russian) groups will be presented there. Anyway I hope so. You can release your demos there. Yeah, support russian parties :)

BTW, if you have some questions about how to submit your production at paradox2002, ask me. And english version of rules is available at yomoma.ru/download/pdx2002_eng.txt

If there is a party in St Peterburg, I'm glad to come. That would then be my first party in 8 years. :)

visa is easy to get, one week and it costs $40 (here in .lv)..

no wonder peeps are afraid of Russia - for sure there is a reason, i've been almost killed there a couple of times there ;D it is even more rough than Latvia not to mention (mostly) boring and (mostly) safe Europe..

i think Cafe will be main russian party rather than paradox

You aren't right :) Cafe will be main russian party at ZX platform. No one leet PC group will be presented there. All russian pc groups such as t-rex, proxium, throb, neonray and other will go to Paradox. Paradox is main PC party. Only one bad side of Paradox is it far from Moscow. But anyway a lot of people go there. And I think t-rex will present their best production there.

We are living in Capitalism for 11 years :)

...a capitalism where the GDP (gross domestic product) is down over 30% compared to the 1990 level. That pretty strongly indicates the average person hasn't profited much from the economic freedom.

This has nothing to do with demo parties of course. And St. Petersburg is very nice to visit, I can recommend it :)

Hm, okey, GDP is down over 30% compared to the 1990 level. It's sad. But it is up over 30% compared to the 1998 level :). Or something like this. We have 7% of GDP level raising up every year. Our economics is raising. Not too fast, but it's raising. And it's nice. And I can say, that this 11 year was fuckin much better, then over 70 years of communism. And our mission is to say people, that our country may be fukkin good. :) And anyway, GDP doesn't realy metter. We are talking about parties anyway.

BTW: prices in our MacDonnalds 3 times chipper than in Finland :) And Cocacola is chipper about 5 times :) So, what you think about beer and its prices? :)

raver, and how often do you think i go to finnish demoparties? :)
They way of calculating GDP has changed in Russia during those years. Without an open market in Soviet it was difficult to put a value on the goods produced. I know that screws, for example, were valued based on the weight, not on the size and quality. So... some factories increased their production simply by increasing the size of screws.
Yes. And almost all in Soviet Union was a fake. We hadn't great factories and other stuff. Politics were talkin that USSR had great power. It was fake. They could tell that people in USSR were happy, but they weren't. Communsts did it to scare the U.S.A :) Haha, I love Russia, not Soviet Union. And GDP level doesn't realy metter. We have a freedom and I can do almost everything I want. It's nice :)
