haha :)

abyss: Sorry for dick sizes part - as stated, my hate about other big demoparties including Mekka have changed over the years is a pretty personal thing actually ;)

Anyway, I was merely upset about the
"There is no point what so ever anymore in platform specific compos" part - but I guess you now see there indeed is a point, and that we have good reasons to currently do things the way we do.

Quote:

There is no point what so ever anymore in platform specific compos, except for to revel in nostalgia. Amiga, C64, Atari and all others, once great demo platforms, are now just one step from oblivion as no truly new groups are born - it is just the old guys who developed their tech and knowledge years ago who keep on creating a new demo now and then. It is great that they do, but if new people don't start working on the platform, it will disappear sooner or later.

at least for the c64, where one has 17-year-olds coding on it and there were at least 2 new groups formed in 2006, this is simply not true. abyss, at least as an organizer of what tends to be considered one the most important demoscene events, you are expected to keep yourself up to date on the platform ongoings before generalizing.

Platforms make sense if, like the timbre of a musical instrument, their hardware distinctively colors the output. Some are more similar to harpsichords, which was superceded later by the piano, but some are longer lasting and irreplaceable.

I wouldn't want an harpsichord competition, but, setting a mandatory instrument for all? The instrument should be chosen by the performers, not the owners of the concert hall.

scamp: no worries =). I'm simply stating my opinion and opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one =). I understand BP's position and its great that you get so many Amiga entries.

ps: arranging a brand new event (ASM Winter) almost next to BP is probably going to eat my spare time. It's weird, spending so much time organizing parties leaves too little time to go to parties =).

Dipswitch: good for them! A few exceptions don't still change the general trend.

PRESS PLAY ON TAPE will be giving a live concert on Saturday evening at Breakpoint 2007. We are happy to have the guys around and think they'll be a great addition to our party.

And stuff.

Hi,

I've been away for a while and have missed a few episodes. One question: The 64mb limit that was set for BP07 - is it going to affect Asm07 as well? (I hope so..)

added on the 2007-02-12 15:46:12 by Navis Navis
Navis: We have to wait on the asm07 invite I guess..

But itsn't time for ASD to actually win BP ?
Release your best demo of 2007 at bp ad not asm :)
added on the 2007-02-12 20:17:46 by magic magic
Navis: I guess you better ask the ASM orgas about that - such rules are created individually for each party, and ASM uses a completely different compo scheme than we do.

And yeah, I'd love to see an ASD release at Breakpoint, so get your asses over :)

Say Scamp, if I can ask. Can you make Breakpoint even more awesome maybe by selling David Hasselhoff DVD's? I've been searching for years for the 'Looking for Freedom Tour' DVD and it is for sale in Germany so it seems!

I think a lot of people would love to get their hands on some Hoff!

Will the missing seminars from breakpoint'06 uploaded before breakpoint'07? Or we can assume they got lost?
