Iblis: with all the respect, tastes differ and ofr sure you have the right to your opinion, i personally think you even have the right to express it in any form you would like to :)

still...
writing in this thread things like you just did, is - to say at least - not necessary, and it definitely dangerously close to , what some may call, trolling.

theres really no need for that in here :)

c'mon man its the scene what did you expect that i just rolled over to an undeserved comment like that? I make enough mischief as to find some real dirt to throw at me, but this just isnt it. And you are more tense than your usual stuck up self...BP hangovers? this is still just for shit and giggles right?

BLZ, i did not at all mean to troll..only the last couple of posts directed at PS. I have respect for your skills, but i was not moved by this track at all. I mean c'mon man i did not say the demo was ugly or anything did i? i keep saying that its PS3 with the underlying meaning that this is some fucking hefty hardware that looks good pretty much by default. Im just wondering about the hype. thats all :)

short question, short answer: did anyone "throw" anything at you in here(this particular thread) before your comment here? i dont thnik so, thats why i jsut cant understand such behaviour. but ofcourse, its your will.

greetz.

iblis: i really DO think you have every right to express you thoughts about this prod, REALLY. no offence taken, or anything. lets just try to keep this thread upto its subject :)

yeah but i didnt really want to fuck up the production comments either, and the oneliner was soon become a lamefest. And i think a new thread just to tell PS that he sucks ass (paying it back right) is a but much, and atleast this thread is on subject hehe....

there must be something that im missing because im not really that impressed with it. What am i supposed to look for? I think the music is trying so hard that it fails entirely, it is bland, boring and poorly executed. The visuals are a mixed bag of stuff, and when i draw a direct compare to the masterpice that is the latest ASD demo, i find this one oldschool in the not so cool way just on a ps3 with the added bells and whistles that the hardware allows for.

Must have been cool tho to live from making demos for 2 streight years (am i getting this correctly?) :)

2 years paid work for a bland boring and poorly executed music == respect for skills

nice to know.

So DID they get 2 years of pay? you know this symbol "?" and what it means?

not that it makes one hell of a difference to me, as i dont really care how people make their income And, yes it is possible to respect someones skills, like i deeply respect Liam Howlett for being one of the finest dance producers ever, but i fucking loathed his last album. I know that this kind of nuances in thinking is properbly outside of your simpleton logic but try to foillow me here.

If i have heard an artists, and recognise skills, but dont like a particular song he did, that doesnt mean that i dislike the artists or think his skills sucks.

to cut it out even further. Liam is one damn fine producer, but Liam sometimes makes shit tracks!

and yet, i still think you're an idiot. perhaps if you had phrased your opinion on the thread in a non clueless idiot manner i would not think so of you. too late for that now though. but maybe you can get something out of the experience for the future. then again, considering your comments maybe you're too dumb for that whole "learning not to be a prick towards other peoples heart devoted efforts" business.
added on the 2008-03-26 04:45:04 by psenough psenough
if other peoples heart devoted efforts arent really that good, and they put it on public display for comments. Well...im not the idiot here then am I? Youre being a whiney bitch and the only reason is that i dont share youre oppinion, and i dare you to call me an idiot to my face at the next party were both at, my guess is that you wouldnt have the balls, and now that makes sense because whiney bitches dont have balls at all.

i dont want to travel too far just to use you as a floor mop for not knowing when to back down in the face of absolute superiority, so any local one (northern europe)

well, i'll probably be doing a summer tour in central europe so it shouldnt be too hard. do let me know when you've picked the ones you'll visit this summer, nothing like knowing the trolls personally to understand the rational behind their clueless idiocy posts. im well over my feeling intimidated by strangers days, sorry to burst your bubble. having to constrain myself to morally acceptable behaviour for the sake of the credibility of a public service can grow quite frustrating with all these trolls, i wouldnt mind blowing some steam on you, feel free to step up and provoke me to the point i wont be held responsible for my actions. ^_^ just hope there'll be enough sceners around to stop me from actually killing you. would suck to go to jail over an internet troll who couldnt handle i find his opinions stupid. :S

Mate, im not only physically twice the man that you are.... why is it so hard to admit that youre being an asshole just for the heck of it. That is honesty i can respect and appreciate, but so far youre still taking the bitch route. The only thing other sceners would try and prevent you from doing was getting yourself hurt on me. I properbly would get involved at some point, if for nothing else, to protect you from not getting yourself hurt on me when youre blowing of steam. And youre so fucking tense, who stuck what up youre ass at BP?

ahh lets just have a joint and blow that smoke. I can beat you up later if you insists ;) , but nothing beats a good joint. In fact if the joint is good enough, the company in which it is shared doesnt even matter but it will bring the fog of peace to the valley

the thing is, im not being an asshole, your comment _was_ idiotic, even if it came from navis himself i would still find it idiotic, and i never had a problem to state that openly regardless of what size anyone is. and its not the size that matters, its what you can do with it that counts. ;) i wasnt even particularly overwhelmed by the demo either, it's the way you expressed your opinion that was plain insulting. and im certainly not insisting on it for the heck of it, got better things to do with my time catching up on emails, you're the one who seems to think me considering your opinion idiotic is a deranged representation of a despote repression system implemented in this place. im all for the right to have an own opinion, i just dont like it when its purposedly insulting and directed towards hard working people.
im all for peace joints.

thank you very much for expanding on the comment. My reaction was more that you targeted it directly at me as in ad hominem and not my comment.

Had you said "iblis: thats retarded or thats idiotic", i wouldnt have reacted at all, but i found it offensive that you would target me personally just because you think my viewpoint was lame (which is fairplay as in, thats your viewpoint then). And i think youre overeacting,. i wasnt trying to troll with the comment, nor was it intended to insult, i spoke my mind about the production excactly as it formed in my head after seing the video. I have thumbed up other stuff from the same people you know.

Anywho....nice fight, looking forward to those peace joints and more verbal brawling in the future.

Hmm, the thread is insanely long to read, so I may be repeating something said earlier. That "techdemo" was pretty awesome but from the articles you find on the interwebs, it is compared to Killzone2, Crysis etc... What the heck is that supposed to mean? You can't compare a demo in that kind to any games.. These are 2 different worlds with pretty much different problems.
As for Sony giving Plastic the opportunity to go a demo on the PS3, though I don't exactly know the background and how did that happen, and though I am not too much into Sony stuff, it was a great thing. I wish we would get official XBox360 XDKs to do some demos in that spirit. (XNA, of course, does not count.. :))

Zest: I think you push too far with ideology. I didn't feel like being ridiculed when playing CoD4. It's just a game and most games aren't really into ideology and deep emotions. What I like the most about LiS is that it was from the very concept a story. I think story demos rule, though I also like some pure-scene, screen-flashing and bass-music ones. Demos are too often results of what the coder invented and put together with some nice music plus maybe a few transitions. That's obviously a result of money behind it but, hey, Plastic crew learned a lot from it and now can use those skills to make some more scene stuff :-).

Withhold from judging the whole thing until you explore the interactive part. If not that, LiS would be finished a long time ago and many characters, scenes and ideas present in the initial script would be there. Those of you actually working in the game industry know the huge difference between totally scripted environment and free-movement game-like one. Nowadays games take millions of dollars to get developed and you can't simply do some of the magic without it (renting a motion capturing studio as an example). Please don't compare it to a game, it's not supposed to be that. It was done to promote the console, to be played at demo stands in shops and for individual users to experience something new that kind of hardware allows. And what's most important for us, it was done to show all those gamers, executives, game developers and millions of other lamers what the demoscene is. Really, that was the creators' idea from the beginning.

Isn't that funny that it's Bonzaj's birthday today? I wish him Linger in Shadows to be the first and the worst of his next-gen projects :).

Nothing. The gaming press needs hits on their websites, because they live off advertising. Comparing things to other (more well-known) things is how they get readers. It also helps to spark furious fanboy-debates in the article-comments, which drive up traffic even more.

Welcome to the internet, enjoy your stay. Beware of the leopard.

So, you confirm my thought those websites are just clueless... I think it's pretty bad, as I have seen in some earlier post here, the gaming community sees that work as "crap"...
Not only it is really frustrating and depressing for sceners to read these feedbacks, even more for the ones who made it and dedicated a lot of time and hard work to achieve this but it is also a bad ad for the PS3 (in that case). If what's supposed to be a demonstration of what the PS3 can do turns out to be a deception for the gaming community because they *don't understand it*, they are probably going to assume games on the same platform won't level with their expectations...
