Thumbs and comments for parties .. ?

category: parties [glöplog]
So, at the moment you can bring up a page for each party for a given year.

It would be nice if on that page you could put comments, memories, and (why not?) even thumb up/piggy/thumb down the party for that year :)

I agree.
That could even help smaller parties gather more people next time if the few participants really enjoyed them :)

Sounds like a new feature for www.demoparty.net :)

Except, not really. :(

oh yes, so people could avoid going to a party just because some random retards said it was bad because of the security team which prevent him from sleeping in the middle of the corridor or anywhere else .. oh wait...
I am somewhat a fan of this idea, but as a party organizer, not really. It would be an outlet for the most ridicilous little frustrations such as "some intros had too long precalc time, why not pre-record them?!" or other stuff in the vein of hotel complaints about too rash toiletpapir on tripadvisor or similar.

I'd instead welcome someone not being too lazy to write more partyreports and a place to gather those, but fuck the thumbs :)

thumbs ups or downs aren't a very good idea, but comments seem a pretty good one!

Yeah, sounds like a bad idea for exactly the reasons nic0 mentions. More party-reports would kick ass though :)

It's a bad idea for two main reasons: 1) there is no reason to rate parties, because people already pick the ones to go to based on word of mouth and who of their friends are going, and 2) read point 1 again.

fair enough, but comments would be nice.

Okay, name three parties in the last 5 years you'd give a serious thumb down for.

your birthdayparty!
forget the thumbs. Forget I ever mentioned the thumbs. Comments would be cool.

If parties on Pouet is to be expanded in any way, integrate with demoparty.net so that we can list "Will attend / Attended", which is an actually useful feature.

Here's another concern: Do party organizers need yet another channel to monitor as far as pre-party requests / questions / demands / problems go? As an organizer, it's bad enough that you have to pay attention to Twitter / Facebook / your local scene forum / Pouet BBS / demoparty.net / email in case someone has a problem, yet another channel would make it even more diffuse.

For prods that's not a problem because prods get uploaded after they're released, but parties are there before they happen.
