@havoc: You are right now the biggest user of ftp.untergrund.net with 196GB on files on it. Do you still use that? If so, could you maybe clean up a bit?

I might wanna clean up branch.untergrund a bit too.

It's saddening to hear that you're putting this hosting service as "read-mode only", as it served a good purpose for the scene.

However, seeing that this will become a read-only site, not allowing me to edit it further, I would like to consider removing my subdomain (and ALL it's data, in ottemperance to the GDPR with my rights regarding personal data) from there.

I just sent you an e-mail (both from my current e-mail address and the @untergrund.net one) regarding that matter.

Thank you for offering this service for all these years.

As said, the choice will be yours:

- If you don't want to have your site archived read-only, delete it
- If you no longer want to maintain your site but not want to it go away, do nothing
- If you want to keep running your site, you will need to help migrate it

Again, the feedback on this thread was totally surprising to me. If I had known that there are so many active users left I would never have announced a shut-down, but instead would have announced that a migration must be done some time in the future.

Maybe I have phrased my request wrong: I would like to ask to delete ALL my ACCOUNT data on untergrund.net and any information about it, not just the website.

The control panel doesn't include an option that allows to remove an account, and the website doesn't even write anything regarding data removal.

gdpr only affects personal data. There is no personal data involved in an untergrund.net account as far as I know

(why did that double post?)

Well, since this thread is active again, I'll try once more.

Long story short, I lost control of my untergrund.net account 10 years ago and I've been trying to get access back sporadically since then. And sadly I don't have access to the email account I used to register my account. See earlier posts of this threadhere, here, here and here.

I would like to contribute to cleaning up data so that the static archive will be smaller.

indeed, this time I did not forget about it again. I've updated your account mail address and also set a temp password, see your new email.

i have a question.. As i lost track (to many msgs) i love the ADA Amiga website.. is Z5 the website master behind it already contacted ? How will be ensured this website will still be on online in future? (also to write comments there)

I don't know really. z5 appears to be the site admin (the account info I have does not mention a handle other than "ada"). They popped up in that other thread.

As mentioned, there is an archiving project running on SceneCity.

Whoever has control over ADA or wishes to take over administration has two options:

a) Have ADA move to our new server with current PHP version. It might just work, or fixes to the PHP code may be needed.

b) Have ADA archived statically. I don't have any clue if that will work - the site has a login function, search, forum with sorting. Unclear how much of that will work when converted to a static HTML site.

So, to me a) sounds like the better option. But someone who is not me must do the work.

I will open a thread on ADA Amiga website about it.. Hopefully Z5 reads it than..

Whats the deadline?

Planned deadline was Dec 15th.

So I repeat my question from the previous page: if my site is archived as a static page, will I be able to request it to be taken down some time in the future?

Scamp, I'd like my website to remain updatable going forward. What's the best way to contact you to arrange the migration?

Preacher: Yes, you will.

exocet: On scenecity chat.

Hello Scamp, sent you a message on your untergrund email. We’d like to keep Ada forums running, if possible

@scamp: and i poked you at scenecity via pm :)
The plan to archive untergrund.net (make most parts read-only) has been postponed to 2025 due to time constraints on my side. Also, the preservation efforts lead by truck so far have sadly not turned out much.

If you are willing to volunteer writing scripts to archive websites that currently are not yet static, please join on untergrund.net.

Executive summary: Happy to see users have woken up, and I am happy if people clean up their stuff, but there right now is no urgency. Once the archiving starts I will re-announce that at least 4 weeks ahead.

rale: Happy to hear you wish to keep ada running. We will be moving you to a new server with modern OS, PHP etc then. You might start working on making sure your scripts work on recent versions of PHP.

(The move to a new datacenter has also been postponed to next year. I originally wanted to use that chance to give the old outdated server "back to nature".)
