Ah well, this kind of charts show why it is worth it to pay 50 % tax :)

sure, but you can probably manage to still be around top-10/15 (germany, belgium, UK, even france/portugal - not bad quality of life in general) without this level of taxation. It is probably more complex than that, I'm just interested in how the Dutch see this.

They are exaggerating a bit in my opinion. I am dutch and a software developer but if I would make 1750 extra this year I won't be paying 1000/1750=57 % tax on that. And if you are earning 70.000 euro a year I am pretty sure you are not interested in doing this shader jon anyway.

People in the Netherlands forget a lot of money comes back in way of education, subsidies on food, subsidies on health insurance (even the people who pay the full price pay relatively little.)

Maybe it's because I am living in the USA at the moment where tax is low but life is expensive. Especially if you need healthcare or education. Also (good quality) food in the supermarket is 2/3 times more expensive than the Netherlands.

I guess it depends where. Big cities tend to be expensive, smaller towns not generally as much. Also some states don't impose an income tax, so you pay only federal income tax. (Though sales taxes might be much higher in such places.)
Navis: 30% is nice but lower is possible too if your income is not too high or your house not too small or cheap. First step is mortgage interest deduction. Then get a partial mortgage for the highest legal interest rate, not with the bank but with your parents. The interest rate you pay can be upto 5 times higher than the bank offers. Your parents are allowed by law to give their children a tax free sum of money every year. "Coincidentally" this tax free sum is about 80% of the mortgage interest you'd pay every year. Oh and not to forget, if they're pensioners they'll pay a lot less tax over the remaining 20% than you would.

Fucked up? Yep, that's why the rules were changed in 2013. I bought my house in 2012 though, so I'm actually under that 30% ;)

It seems Holland is at the top with Sweden and Denmark.

And the icing on the cake is that the quality of living, not to mention access to social services and education keeps declining. So we're fucked from both ends.

Any Takers yet?
I followed this Thread for its lifetime...you´ve been correct about this not being the place to look for someone fitting your job, but luckily i am good at shaders and working on games only at this point of time, reserves of money are gone and i´d like to take the money! ;)
Just give me your orders, i will code what you need and grab the money once you feel fine with it! ;) It´s win-win, you know it! Also if i do sth i do it with passion! And if not, atleast my name is to be found somewhere next to it for the rest of my life and even longer, shamefully! ;)

Grab me beautiful: hardytrsi@gmx.de

P.S.: Only took me that long to finally answer on your demand due to my own demands (game-coding/designing) and me normally not working for this amount of money anymore! :) Just the Truth! I am cool! ;) Your Shaders will be kewl aswell! Once done! :D
