- Awesome! I don't think I've ever seen a nicer production on this PC. But it could've used a fullscreen mode.

- Kalms: maybe I'll just put some complete 3d scenes in my own voxel engine (which is better than yours, mind you) and add perspective and integrate it with my realtime bones engine (which is better than yours, mind you). Then I'll put naked chicks on a skybox and make them dance, state-of-the-art style, to some SID music, while the whole thing spins around a C= logo. And you'll lose so hard you won't stop crying for weeks. ARRHAHAHAHAHAA!!

- .. of course, "off-scene" in the above was supposed to read "off-white scene". So there.

- Kalms: nice. But you know, everyone has a realtime bones engine these days. ;) Look at Heartcore. I thought it was so trivial that mine is only shown for three seconds. So hah!
Anyway, remember that next year we want you to show off your 3D modeller's (impressive) skills a little less and put some more effort into original code. Maybe experiment with a different style, cause it's getting a bit hard to tell your demos apart.
Also, TBH, the faking in Ocean Machine was too obvious to be interesting. Like the pretextured box scene. It was pretty in itself (but then, softshadows on an entirely off-scene usually is), but when the other boxes moved under the arch you just added the shadows onto the prerendered ones on the floor texture. Really :). You could've played around with some shadetables or something to get proper blending. And the low (256x256?) resolution on the skybox in the first effect sort of ruined the feel of the scene, i think. It was much too clear what was part of the skybox and what wasn't.
I've decided that my favourite part is the voxel scenes, despite the fact that they're pretty ugly. It's the best part because it's the first time in years I've seen something really new from TBL.
So, consider that _constructive_ criticism. :) It's really a great demo. - isokadded on the 2005-04-11 11:32:03

- winden: it could be, but then it's just very odd that the dancer isn't rendered as often as the surroundings :)
Still the best part in the demo though, because of the quality of the animation. - isokadded on the 2005-04-04 13:18:30

- @windenntv:
Modelled on a realtime bones engine, perhaps ;). But her framerate doesn't really match that of the rest of the scene. That was pretty obvious in the compo. Still haven't found out if it was running on UAE or an Amiga then. - isokadded on the 2005-04-02 22:23:33

- Woo wee! We like Depth! I don't get the "we are still alive" theme thoiugh. Shouldn't that be "Curt Cool still attends Breakpoint every year"? ;) Anyway, next year we want a Depth demo, or else!
