I liked the intro (its Bear battering!!) and the main menu (the music!!).
The Digisynth screen showed what a ST can do - Mods were to be a common thing (if a group liked it).
The Red Sector conversion was also very cool (good music, some jokes and nice technique)
rulez added on the 2005-01-15 21:22:17 by Zweckform Zweckform
Zweckform: I'm not totally sure since I haven't watched this screen for years but I think those were Quartet songs, not mods ;)
added on the 2005-07-21 11:50:22 by keops keops
i'm sure its quartet. it's a bit faster than mods and ofcourse quartet was brittish, and TLB were too ;)

Well, sorry for that, back in time it was just Digistuff to me which Amiga boys were so proud of before. That was my point here. Can you forgive me the error in the techincal details ..? :-)
added on the 2005-07-21 12:13:35 by Zweckform Zweckform
Zweckform: my point was only to draw Earx's attention to the fact that he had not commented on this masterpiece yet :)
This Quartet nit-picking was merely a sorry excuse. Hope you don't mind being used for vile ends ;)

Keop: you are welcome..;-)

Earx: YES! New stuff! Sadly I was very busy last two weeks, so you have to be a bit more patient with my stuff. :-/

One of my fave demos back in the days, really digged the Quartet screen with "crystal cloear sound at 8kHz". Today, that screen feel very dated :)
rulez added on the 2007-01-05 21:47:33 by evil evil
I love this demo - especially the Startunnel screen (I finished the music for this screen on Thalion headquarter). ;-)
If I remember correctly, ES was painting this liquid looking TCB logo as a gift for Nick and An Cool on this day. TCB used it first in the Sowatt demo menu. Ups, I become nostalgic...

This was at the height of the ST/Amiga rivalry period.

Amiga kiddies:- Nyaah! Your crappy ST's can't do Red Sector stuff!"

Us (Showing Mindbomb):- "Oh yes we can!"

I also remember it as the start of Maggie diskmag, as that was released at the same Atari show in London, as the Mindbomb was. All in all, a very productive time for the Lost Boys :-)

Damn, Evil/DHS just told me that Manikin (Tim Moss) was lead programmer on God Of War 2. Now I understand better why GOW looks demoish somehow.

Like I did not have enough respect for Manikin already :)

A milestone in ST demo history. On a side note, GOW team is indeed really demoish : fuzzac/silents is also in.

It's good, but imo far to be as good and nicely polished as the "Ooh Crikey".

wtf? the same tim moss as with GOW.. sorry for the lateness. but the GOW games really rock in alot of ways (technically, design wise), like TLB demos. :)

it rules like all the good job this guys made for the ST ... The lost boys perhaps but not so lost ... look a GOW game to know what they are capable ;-)

I liked most: the menu, "3D balls", 2 layer moving background screen or "Para Scroll" (?), 3D "Mega Balls", "foxx tunnel" old skool, ...

How to reach "VECTOR" door?

Solo: Go to the top of the ladder to the left of the Vector door, there you can jump off to the right and reach it.

MagikGimp: Here's the message at the end of the disk:

Quote:

HI THERE! HERE'S A SMALL NOTE TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE THAT HACK DEMOS... I SUPPOSE YOU HAVE ALSO MADE SOME DEMOS YOURSELF, AND I HAPPEN TO COLLECT BOOTSECTORS THAT ARE EXECUTABLE. PLEASE SEND ALL EXECUTABLE BOOTSECTORS WITH DESCRIPTION TO RICHARD KARSMAKERS, I.B. BAKKERLAAN 15-III, NL-3582 VB, UTRECHT, THE NETHERLANDS. PLEASE ONLY SEND THOSE THAT ARE NOT RECOGNISED BY THE LATEST "VIRUS DESTRUCTION UTILITY" (NEW NAME "ATARI ST VIRUS KILLER"). WHAT?! YOU DON'T HAVE THAT? THEN SEND A JOLLY GOOD SEVEN POUND STERLING TO THE SAME ADDRESS AND YOU'LL GETTIT! THAT'S IT. OH YEAH. I LOVE MIRANDA DEARLY. BYE! And here is the message at the beginning of the disk:

Quote:

THIS DISK WAS COMPLETED ON THE 18 APRIL 1990 AND FOR A VERY SHORT TIME IT WILL BE THE BEST DEMO ON THE ST. BUT FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE CLEVER ENOUGH TO READ DISK TRACKS THERE WILL BE A NEW TCB DEMO RELEASED VERY SOON WHICH WILL BLOW THIS DEMO AWAY! SINCE I AM THE PERSON WHO WROTE ALMOST ALL OF THIS DEMO THIS IS AN ADMISSION INDEED. HOPE YOU LIKE OUR MEGADEMO ANYWAY IT WILL BE OUR LAST FOR A LITTLE WHILE! AND NOW A VERY SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR HACKBEAR THE INFAMOUS NORWEGIAN HACKER! WE THOUGHT (STEFAN AND I) THAT YOU MIGHT LIKE TO FIND A LITTLE MESSAGE TO YOURSELF ON OUR DISK SO HERE IT IS. DO YOUR WORST WITH THIS DEMO. WE HAVE DONE OUR BEST TO PROTECT IT. THE BOOTSECTOR IS VERY EASY BUT IT IS NOTHING COMPARED TO SOME OF THE NEXT BITSTHE BOOT SECTOR WAS MY VERY LAME ATTEMPT AT PROTECTION THE NEXT BIT IS NICK OF TCB'S NOT AT ALL LAME ATTEMPT AT PROTECTION AND I THINK IT WILL STOP ALL BUT THE VERY BEST! THIS DEMO IS PROTECTED TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY AGAINST THE HAPPY CARTRIDGE AS WELL THOUGH I DON'T GUARANTEE THIS. THE DEMO WAS ABSOLUTELY COMPLETED AT 9:56PM ON THE 18TH APRIL 1990 IN DEN BOSCH IN HOLLAND BY MANIKIN OF THE LOST BOYS AND THE DIGITAL INSANITY CORPORATION!!! UNTIL NEXT TIME FARE WELL OH NORWEGIAN NUTTY! LITTLE WITTICISM! WHAT ARE THESE? DOZEN SEVERED BABY HEADS ! WHAT IS GREEN WHITE AND CONFUSED? A FROG THAT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HAS COME OVER HIM!! THIS ONE IS ESPECIALLY INCLUDED FOR ESTHER RANTZEN!!!! WELL I HOPE YOU APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT WE WERE KIND ENOUGH TO WRITE SOMETHING ON THE DISK TRACKS FOR YOU TO READ! AS A PAST DEMO HACKER MYSELF I KNOW HOW NICE IT IS TO FEEL YOU HAVE ACTUALLY FOUND SOMETHING ON THE DISK. THERE ARE OTHER BITS OF SPURIOUS BULLSHIT SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE DISK AS WELL SO KEEP LOOKING!
