I think that I will need SainT emulator to run this..
In Pacifist, it was loading all the time (And when the drive loads in this emulator, it slows down, even in a Pentium2)
Have downloaded yesterday SainT. Will try it..

As far as I have seen it seems very impressive. Many many flat polygons (I am not sure, but have I read somewhere that they are precalculated datas of the polygons which load and decompress (That's why it loads all the time from the disk) and they just get datas and draw 2d vectors? (Hmm,.. is it a way to do the final part of Second Reality on CPC? Did the guys from Smash Designs did something similar on C64? Flat polygons are few and can be easily be precalculated and compressed. Remember also State of the Art. The polygons are precalculated. Just rasterizers left..)

Interesting..

Great, there is at least one people who like technical stuff ! :-) just more informations: yes, the poly are precalculated (and 2d clipped), but the stream is not packed. (not enough time to depack and draw all these polys). The disk drive is running only because there is no more RAM !! The fast generated polygone rout take about 512Kb, the player and music about 300Kb. So the 3d stream is loaded into a 64Kb circular buffer.
oldskool rules ! :-)

Leonard, again in the "coup de coeur" choice ! Damned !

As usual with Leonard/Oxygene, a nice prod to dl and keep carefully. Enjoy.

One of my favorite demos. Beautiful work from Leonard, glad to see here in the "coup de coeur" choice. 3D demos reminds me the intro of the Flashback by TCB and the famous screen of Ziggy Stardust in European Demos. I love that! Hope Leonard will never stop to code =)

Hi all
Nice to see an ATARI prod here. For PC user, here is some help to see the demo. Use a good ATARI emulator ( http://saint.atari.org ). Run SainT.exe, select the MSA demo file and click on "Insert" button, then click run. (Don't forget to swith the STE mode in the option page).
Have fun !

This prod took me back for sure. :) I liked it, but they should never never NEVER have used the best soundtrack of all time.. that soundtrack belongs to the *one* - Desert Dream. :)

Check Leonard's home page. This demo is also available on the Gameboy Advance! Although it doesn't have music, it runs faster and smoother! :) I think it's kind of wierd to use Checknobankh (music from Desert Dreams) but whatever, not everyone can be a musician. :)

I cant run msa's on my atari....
Sorry if there is a way, but i don't know that much abour atari ;)
added on the 2004-05-30 20:38:31 by cerror cerror
Nice prod from oxygene as always.

cerror: you must know very little about the atari then ;) MSA has been around since 1987 to image floppydisks, so it's no emulator format (although emus reinvented the wheel with the .st format).
Download an MSA writer from here: No Fragments

Nice precalculed polygons streaming, the result is really cool.

Reminds me of Mobile Destination Unknown / Spaceballs ;)

Awesome, just a shame the music is taken from an amiga demo. Prolly one of my favorite Atari demos.

It all started when I saw a screenshot and had no idea which demo that was. It looked impressive so I took a look, then I got really impressed and then I found out noone really cares about what I type here... ;)

Dessert Dream track? WTF WERE YOU THINKING???? Thats just so retarded, ruins the whole demo. You couldnt get ANYONE!!? to do music for you??? OMG????? Oxygene is ruined for me now. The music in Oxygene demos basicly were the half of the demo experience. Where the hell was CLAWZ???

Never done before on the ST. But i guess the precalcs were made on a PC.
rulez added on the 2009-11-24 14:46:44 by baah baah
It looked good on the screen I admit, but really a shame to have used a ripped module on that, kind of destroy the feeling of "never seen before on the st" :(
added on the 2009-12-02 19:22:33 by Dbug Dbug
I think the reason the ripped track is on here is basically the time-honoured up yours to Amiga owners by saying that Atari can do it too. I wonder if it's processed in the same way or is just done by cheating?

nice 3d scene, but ripping music... nonono!

Hi! A new version can be downloaded here:
http://leonard.oxg.free.fr/demos/atari/ST-NICC2.zip
Now you have digital sound even with a STF machine!
Enjoy :)
added on the 2013-05-16 22:52:56 by leonard leonard
Thanks for accepting my challenge and to have kindly updated this demo.
STF digisound is nothing more than the Hextracker driver at work at 10 KHz with 4 voices, full volume and pitch control and 3 YM volume registers for virtual DAC.
Use real HW or SainT to test it as Steem and Hatari currently have problems with the disk drive loading timing on STF and everything gets slower.
To admins, please set the platform to ST and STE. Thanks.

rulez added on the 2013-05-27 20:55:00 by piter_jnf af piter_jnf af
STF animation speed is now the correct one with STeem SSE 3.5.1 emulator if you select "Accurate Disk Access Times (Slow)" in the proper Disk Manager tools menu: snails ( :) ) wiil appear on the disk drive icons.
Sound quality is not the real HW one.
added on the 2013-06-19 14:12:05 by ljbk ljbk
Emulation under the Hatari 1.7 is now perfect.
Thanks guys for the update.

Not a bad demo but too boring for me and the Desert Dream track really doesn't fit even though the replay quality is nice.

This demo is slowly becoming as popular as Bad Apple for remixes. There have to be another 3 or more remixes not linked yet.
