Pushing away the limits.. Smooth animated as usual with ASD! No breaks, well synch. And these 3d rolling papyrus/rubbans are very innovative.

Yeah, very ASD-ish. The demo is great and I really appreciate the amount of work and polish (as always), but somehow it's kind of similar to the rest of ASD demos (except for stuff like "for the masses" trilogy).

extremely good demo! i can't get over how incredibly fluid it all is.

also; kudos to navis for going to the gathering and spreading some serious demoscene-inspiration.
rulezadded on the 2006-04-16 20:01:48 by gloom gloom
Very stylish and very strange production. Slow paced demo, different from previous ASD demos . Nice picked packs of colors perfectly fits with music. Of course, incredible flow of scenes in ASD demos is legendary, same here.

In my eyes Iconoclast was way better, but still funckin´ big thumb up for you. Respect.
rulezadded on the 2006-04-16 20:24:20 by Trauma Zero Trauma Zero
Just adding my thumbs up to this amazing demo! Slick and dreamy as always, though not upto Iconoclast or even Planet Risk's standards in my opinion.

One small complaint I have though is that ASD demos are starting to look too similar now and it's hard to tell them apart.

Very solid and fluent direction on this one, the "one take"-idea really works well.
The music is not my cup of tea, but fits the demo quite good.

:( sorry, I just don't like this type of very low-tempo demos. Also, coder-colors and ugly glow makes me want to reach for my remote. You ditched the guitar, now go for the hat-trick! :D
added on the 2006-04-18 01:49:48 by hornet hornet
Graphically wonderful, but a bit downtempo for my taste. When doing "slow" demos like this you should have a far more interesting soundtrack IMHO. But still, great :)

that is ASD how i like em. good music good effects and very progressive transitions. those synced effects together with this nice non techno music were so refreshing to me. thank you. one of the best demos this year. don't know if you're olskool, but you kick ass and give me an oldskool feeling.

ASD is ahead of their time. Releases like this are setting new standards for PC demos - something very needed.
Fresh and enjoyable music as always, and most of all, brilliant scene transitions (you know I have a soft spot for them). Good use of pixelshaders and good effects.

Every time I see a new ASD prod, I am amazed at how they manage to raise the bar, every time. This is a different style than Planet Risk and Iconoclast, but still is very much ASD and that is a very good thing. Can't wait to see the ASM release! I can't pick out a part of this demo that really stands out over the other - it's all awesome. Love the music, too.
rulezadded on the 2006-04-23 03:26:42 by ngtflyer ngtflyer
Best music in an asd demo ever, nice looking effects and seamless transitions like always. But you could try to move on from that same old "black background + glowfilter + bright colours + noise layer" -pattern. We have seen that already, many times.

Still worthy a thumb.

Cranium's soundtrack meets We Cell's particles? The hyper-hypnoglow-LSD-blur visuals are still not my thing. Thumbs up for some nice and good looking ideas like the peeling-thingy, plus the music. Can't see any bars moving though, and we're all still on the same timezone.

Thankfully Axel, Alzheimer hasn't kicked in yet =). I remember our little chat in the tent, thinking that you said you were Axl =).

As for the lyrics in the end.. it goes like this..

A smell in the air
A game never fair
I'm holding the dice and you just move a square
You're facing the wall,
once again when I roll
Not letting the fate to take its toll
Don't you fear my maze,
It's natural to bite your lip and tremble in this fashion
Mesmerize my gaze,
Touch me and surrender to the animal attraction.

And yeah it's me singing.. and since my voice sux, that's why there's a ton of effects on it =PP

dixan, true - i got also several kewlers vibes from this one. :) excellent demo, quality that we've come to expect from asd in a bit more moodier pack (in contrast to iconoclast which was more of a massive effects show). perhaps my favourite asd release so far. keep it up!

zafo, I can't believe I let my voice slip in this one as well. I originally sung this as a guide to help a friend of mine understand what I wanted her to sing. However time ran short.. it's weird that you find my voice good on this.. it's soooo out of tune...

Really beautiful work organized in a effects collection, but with the manner.

The music is a good companion to the demo, and the sitar things are really nice during the particles riot :)
The bad point is the voice which is useless and a bit out of tune for me. But eh, that's not a big deal.
Except the fact a good machine is needed to have it running, this is a very good job.

hmm.

on the one hand, this was (as usual) totally slick, and contrary to most asd demos i really like the soundtrack here.

on the other hand, this totally failed to touch or move me in any way - and the great flow (again, as usual :) just emphasized to me how it starts somewhere and ends somewhere without actually going anywhere.

i really like captive a lot more.

The "roll-up" stuff being used was really good and there were definitly a LOT of sprites involved. Great work as usual, but I liked "iconoclast" better...

must've been better on party and the bigscreen.. you can do a lot better, but still a great production.
i missed antialasing a lot.
if i weren't in such a bad mood i'd thumb ip up.

This must be my favourite asd demo so far. The rolling ribbons were great and the music worked for me this time. The arpeggios at about 0:58 are lovely. I guess I like the pictures in the box (in the style of the one at 1:53 ) part combined with the ribbons, the soundtrack and the fluffy little dots. The flower references are nice too. Maybe just the parts with curved action :)

I don't quite feel that some tunnel of boxes really fits to the sitar stuff (or something like that). Same goes for the font and the "city" at the beginning. I think it would have even more style if you could "sitarize" everything and make it more hippie-electronic :) (I sound like a musician)

Still awesome stuff and I must once again admire the work done to make this flow smoothly from start to end.
rulezadded on the 2006-05-18 19:59:31 by loaderror loaderror
Great stuff as usual. The music was very good, my only complaint is at the part with the cubes. During the transition, the effects over the 'old' box stop playing. I know, I know, you would have to render twice as much stuff to make it work like that, but it would be awesome :-)

I wonder how Navis would react if I included a crack for this in the bonus pack of the next Hugi edition? (Yes, it's so simple that even I managed to crack it!)

My review of this demo will be included in Hugi 32, plus some recommendations how to make encryption a bit more challenging to crack in the future...
