a great show with a real gothic and oppressing mood ... because of the mood, many people don't like this demo, but it is a matter of taste ... anyway, this demo is technically perfect

a great demo, with an incredible atmosphere, and some insanely great scary pictures by nytrik.

I'm just trying to catch up to fractalgp in glops. :) But of course I like this demo a lot. Not for the faint of heart.

I was there at Wired98 and this demo hit like a bomb. Everyone was totally smoked after seeing it - the dark atmosphere, created by the awesome artwork and soundtrack, holds you by the throat and won't let go until the very last pixel has moved out of sight.

A deserved winner, it enriched my experience of the very last Wired.

Awesome piece of art... one of my fave demos of that year... IIRC the problem wasn't speed, but the RAM the thing needed, the code was cool enough
rulezadded on the 2001-10-04 04:16:58 by mac mac
Yes, the atmosphere rulez.
I especially like the part with dead(?) guy sitting on the floor, the music plays, you're feeling that something's going to happen... and then...

Kickass soundtrack, still love it ! I think this one is better than Shad2. A windows port would be very nice :)
rulezadded on the 2002-05-23 01:24:41 by bruce bruce
I agree with mnemonix, windows-port would be nice (but please not with the shad2 system, it looks like there's not been taken care of the pitch). And that it's far better than Shad 2. The music is also a lot cooler :)

One of the few 3d demos I liked back in '98. Great soundtrack and feeling in this baby.

Damn! I never came by to rate this one YET !???! Oh my god!!! What a mess!
This is for sure one of the BEST demos from the 'good old days'...which still has its bits to compete even with nowadays prods as well and would beat various of them for SURE !!!

YES! YES! YES!! A win32 port is a MUST finally!! I don't wanna lose this piece of ART just cause there aren't any dos-machines around anymore (although I will still keep mine forever just for THIS demo I guess! ;-) )

But a win32 port would be MEGA-GREAT!!!

Come on...let everyone of us write an email to Guille to request a port finally! I once talked to him a while back and he said he would think about that...and he will do when he got some time! But this is a while back already...so time has to come now I think....don't you think as well!? ;-)))

Anyways....MEGA-THUMBS UP for this one DEFINITELY!!!!

uh oh, this one was a great show overall, but i think i've never seen it completly because it always crashed in a different way ... very creative :)
rulezadded on the 2002-10-27 01:58:15 by robotriot robotriot
robotriot: I might know what you mean... (if you tried to start shad in any win9x environment or sometimes even with DOS... ;-)
Solution for this 'crashes' is to start shad again and skip all parts shortly after music starts with 'esc' !! This way you can skip all parts already seen and then watch the last part (after the alien scene...dead guy sitting down etc...) finally! ;-)
The last part is really WORTH watching it as well of course! GREAT music and a great FINAL end for the whole demo!
Try to watch it completely...you won't regret ANY second of it! I promise !! ;-)

who thumbed this down?! let's see.. oh, mike3d.. ahahaha! you can come out from under the blankets now!

was just listening to the soundtrack, has to be some of the best tracked demo music around. ok, plenty of extended samples, but still, kick. ass.

we demand a win32 port immediately ! :)
The movie-like part give me the creeps. :) Apart from that, this is simply an insane amount of artwork ! Back then it was elite. Now it's scene legacy.

Incoherent. Especially the soundtrack. Funky music seldom works together very well with a horror theme. At least not in my book. Pretty boring.

Back then I was a little newbie trying to release his third demo. I got some difficulty to display good triangles with sub pixel accurancy.... and Shad was shown on the BigScreen and I still remember the impact of this demo.
This is one of my best scener's memory.
Respect to cocoon and syndome's guys behind this prod.

Too long and cheap exploitation of lowest level emotions - seems to be quite a standard for Cocoon. No thumb down only due to production date.
