A megamusicdisk. Generous as the megademo concept, brilllant tunes/gfx/code with lot of fun and details, hidden goodies, also very friendly (progressbar, fullscreen) It gaves me rare feelings I had with some old stuffs. The best musicdisk ever. ;)

Apparently a few of you have started the program and only have seen a black screen. This is not intentional and we will issue a bugfix. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you can avoid severe Truck sittage by waiting patiently instead of thumbing down. ;) There also will be updates soon. We'll mention things like the brillant intro file soundtrack done by Virgill for example, give further infos and add a tracklist.
Greets from Evoke, we'll be home, sober and back in action soon, thanks a lot for the feedback so far.

I also get the black screen, so I have a small request for the upcoming bugfix: it would be nice if it checks the drive to see if the dvd is inserted so that those of us who bought the dvd at Evoke don't have to burn a new dvd just to get the fix to work :-)

This is the way entertainment should be. Pouet needs to be upgraded to support piggie-neutralising double-thumbs now.

Too many classy.
rulezadded on the 2007-08-13 13:21:23 by Jimage Jimage
sparcus (and anyone involved): we're currently trying to figure out how to deal with that - it's very likely that we will do an 1.1 version with a bit more content/fixes/polish and let people who bought the 1.0 version have the "upgrade" disc+box for free.

I cheated and copied the ISO contents to my hd, so i kinda missed parts of the experience :) but the rest is so much everything that I would allow myself to expect what a musicdisk could be that I can't do any otherwise than thumb this baby up. Very, very great work of all of you.

(oh, and Gargaj, while you're fixing, would you be so kind and make the skip track buttons recognize the Shuffle setting? thanks :-x )

ALiEN: updated exe did the trick and works fine! :)

Truely a great music disk, I totally love the interface, lots of things to explore. :) However, I dislike the actual tune selector because I couldn't find any way to scroll through the tunes one by one. Yes, I know I can click in the list of tunes and the display will update accordingly but I don't like this at all. But that's actually the only minor complaint I have, if you add a "scroll through the tunes using cursor keys" feature for the v1.1 update it would be great. :) Big thumb up to all people involved!

Actually I now also wonder why "Wild" and "Slide Show" as well in the end. It's a musicdisk, isn't it?
added on the 2007-09-06 03:15:36 by keops keops
Well there is Space Invaders :) At least slide show fits imo
added on the 2007-09-06 06:33:47 by Serpent Serpent
keops: it has a game included, it has 80MB of graphics by various artists, it was entered as a wild...
added on the 2007-09-06 14:50:48 by Gargaj Gargaj
Mind: well tons of demos have a little game inside, yet we did not enter them as Game category.

mind you, I'm not the one removing back those categories, I have no idea who does that although I kind of agree that it's only a musicdisk/wild, not a game/artpack

holy crap! this came out of nowhere and simply RULES! :) mad props for the massive amount of work this must have been to put together.

keops: have you even spent more than two seconds with it? there are loads of graphic arts and slideshows in it. click around; you'll discover some stuff. :)

gloom: that's why I asked, shame on me but I did not have the time to really check it yet :)

keops: find the time, it rules. :)

actually, i'm more in awe of this than i first suspected. this is a _huge_ amount of work, and it feels completely different from anything i've ever seen from the demoscene. it's not really a demo, it's not really a music disc, it's not really a slideshow, it's not really a game.. it's..

it's more like this very warm and friendly demoscene-oriented space that you want to live in if you could. :) i really love the feeling this gives me.

dont you want to add some more categories? :P
works swiftly at least here with multisampling turned off and enabling low video RAM. i guess this works for other (un)lucky old gfxcard owners too.

As someone who remembers the oldskool musicdisks (PC had a few good ones too), this is a product worthy of both the old and new scenes. 110% double-plus good.

Strange bug :
when I mount the iso it works perfectly but when I burn it (multiple tries), all texts disappear....

Forgot to thumb up. Massive rules, of course.. with this amount of content it's impossible to not find something you like. Good work on the interface, too.

Still need to try 1.1 :)

I noticed some minor usability issues like the quickly disappearing slideshow controls, or the fact that the first few times I thought the volume slider was the scrollbar for the tracklist :) Well, nothing serious.
The interface is still one of the best evar with all the little bits and pieces :)

I wasn't particularly impressed by the pictures included in the slideshows. Yeah, there are some good ones, but quality over quantity would have appealed more I think. (And I don't get the amiga demo screenshots part... must be some oldschoolness I don't understand :)

But of course it's a musicdisk with lots of quality music and as a musicdisk it's excellent.

The interface is damn incredible! My respects to Helge for the beautiful interactive illustration work and some great pics within. Quality stuff!

The music...there are some great tracks, but these are mixed among some real amateur efforts that really don't deserve to be here.

The same goes for the slideshow graphics. A few decent pics, but some real ugly crap in there too. I don't really get the point of the random Amiga demo screenshots either.

When I first saw this I wanted to give it a thumb up and maybe even a CDC for the amazing interface and the handful of great tunes, but with the focus on quantity over quality there's too much that drags this down.
