- This is a little demo to celebrate 20 years of SoundTracker -
surprisingly named
- = Soundtracker 20th Anniversary = -
* This demo features a 4-channel MOD italo-disco soundtrack by Yerzmyey,
for the General Sound interface.

Emulators supporting General Sound are:
> Spectaculator http://www.spectaculator.com/
> UnrealSpeccy http://alonecoder.narod.ru/zx/
> Z80Stealth http://trd.speccy.cz/emulz/Z80S_600.ZIP
- both in Pentagon / Scorpion mode.
Also in ZX 128K.

The file contains two versions - TAP file and SCL file for TR-DOS users.
Really cool stuff, but the multicolour pic looks bad on pentagon :(

Solid hooy-program quality :)
Thanks for supporting the great general sound interface. Demos like this assure me that it was right to get a Pentagon 1024SL. Second part is pretty cool too.

Shit, I've put it here, too, and didn't know it's already here. Damn me. Sorry. Good stuff anyway! Although I can't emulate GS on my machine, the Gasman's music is - as always - brilliant.

Also keep in mind that Spectaculator's GS emulation sucks quite bad. Best would be Z80Stealth or UnrealSpeccy (later can even export the mod)

video coming ... also mad props for cross platform greets :)
added on the 2007-11-13 01:53:28 by shock__ shock__

sadly the sound is quite low on the first part, as the recording would have encountered some oversteering in the second part. I also cut the greets, as I was not in the mood to record the demo a second time full length

I DON'T give "thumb up" for the soundtracker, as ProTracker is the best BUT I give "thumb up" FOR THE COOL OLD-SCHOOL atm, for fine songs and really good multicolor effects.

Have you tried it on the original ZX Spectrum 128? It doesn't work! It freezes after loading and executing (decrunching) the first block of code. I've tried it on a 128+ and +2 with DivIDE and FatWare 0.12 with no luck...

I don't think demos for GS card works with Spectrum without the GS. :( Probably program test the ZX-bus and if the GS isn't connected - the program stops.
You should email authors though.

Hi, FACTOR. I prepared a version for ZX128+ (multicolour timing) without GeneralSound, the version doesn't contain MOD file.
Also it's in software turbo-mode and will load into Spectrum via TAPE connector in 50 seconds (don't use tapes, they have too bad sound quality; load from WAV or a CD/MP3 player).
On my ZX128+ it works perfectly. Don't counting MOD of course.
The "castrated" demo is here http://yerzmyey.republika.pl/st_ann.wav

Factor6: small (?) correction: I've checked out the original version (which is downloadable from POUET) and the TAP works normally with ZX128+ (without GS card, so the second part of the demo is silent - but still works).
It's something with Your hardware maybe.
Aww crap. I think I've made the MOD loading code incompatible with the DivIDE. The problem is that there seems to be no good way to autodetect the presence of the GS interface, so all I could do was check that there was *something* responding to the GS hardware ports (0xb3 and 0xbb). But... it turns out that the DivIDE uses the same ports, so it's detecting that you have a GS attached when actually you haven't.

Arse. I'm going to have to write a bugfix release now, aren't I?

(Other than that minor fuckup, it is designed to load on any Spectrum and run as much of the demo as is feasible - so even a 48k will get the main part. 16k owners are out of luck though...)
